12 DIGITAL INDIA Digital Indian Campaign (August 2014) was initiated by an initial investment of £13bn over the five years. The vision of the programme is to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy.

National Mission in Education through ICT (NMEICT) is a centrally sponsored scheme to leverage ICT in teaching and learning process across all HEI’s of India. Initiated in 2009 Aimed towards increasing Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in Higher Education by 5% pload_document/MissionDocument.pdf Government of India has collaborated with HCL to launch SAKSHAT, the world’s most inexpensive tablet which will cater to digital needs of more than 500 million people of the nation. The central government run Indira Gandhi Open University (IGNOU) has developed a learning platform that uses mobile phones to download course content.
