How do I register for Tryouts?
A registration link will be posted on our website and athletes are required to register in advance. Please click the link and fill in all appropriate information. An online signed participation waiver (within tryout registration form) is required to be eligible to attend tryouts. We suggest arriving to tryouts minutes early to allow adequate time for registration, check-in and athlete preparations. There will be long lines to register (depending on age group) Tryouts take place at Hoops City U 4300 Emperor Blvd, Research Triangle Park (Durham), NC 27703 © Team Carolina All Rights Reserved

Team Carolina Tryout Process
A wide range of participating Coaches evaluate the Tryouts. They assess athletes in multiple elements of skill to ensure the athlete is ready for an AAU experience. Coaches Look For: Fundamental Skills Competitiveness Energy on the Court Enthusiasm to Play Eagerness to Learn Athleticism A Good Teammate Positive Attitude Long Term Potential Coaches do not keep track of points scored in tryouts. They watch a player’s approach to playing. Do they sprint, or are they passive. Are they willing to make a pass to a teammate or do they look to shoot every time they touch it. Coaches look for players who are committed, have a great work ethic and want to be a part of a special group of young men and women in forming a TEAM. © Team Carolina All Rights Reserved

Tryout Actions What happens at tryouts?
During tryouts, athletes will be evaluated by several of our coaches and staff in multiple areas. Tryouts consist of fundamentals work, ball handling, and scrimmage/game play. All athletes, including those who have been with Team Carolina in the past are evaluated using the same criteria, and are given the same opportunity to make a team. © Team Carolina All Rights Reserved

Team Carolina Team Selection Process
We field teams in every age group, and in some age groups, have more than one team. Coaches maintain an ongoing evaluation flow chart for each player attending. Coaches reference these assessment forms in addition to considering input from other Coaches, AAU Directors and affiliated staff in making their recommendations. After Tryouts are completed, meetings are conducted with the executive committee in which each player is discussed and final roster spots are awarded. Tryouts are required to be eligible for a roster spot. Teams have limited roster spots. Depending on the team, the size of the roster may only have 10, 11 or 12 total available spots. No players are offered a roster spot during the tryout or in front of other athletes or parents. © Team Carolina All Rights Reserved

The Notification Individual Results are ed to each tryout participant by the designated time announced at Tryouts. We also will post the TRYOUT NUMBER ASSIGNED on the website. We will not post individual players names online. Players who were not selected will be contacted directly informing them of their options that would include attending another tryout offered later in the year, or being placed on a wait list. Further, specific training programs will be recommended to facilitate improvement in the areas identified by the evaluation staff. © Team Carolina All Rights Reserved
