Amazing Facts about the Earth
Africa’s Sahara Desert covers about one-third of Africa and is constantly growing. The Earth is not actually round. It’s slightly flattened at the north and south poles and is called an oblate spheroid. Pass the salt? If you could evaporate all the ocean water and spread the remaining salt over all the land on Earth, you would have a 500-foot layer of salt. About 1 million earthquakes happen around the world each year, the majority of which are never registered. The hottest temperature ever recorded on Earth was 136 degrees in Azizia, Libya in 1922.
