Neuro MRI Call— Logistics

What happens at 2 am? MR/Neuro Fellow must page the resident at 2 am to go over what ER/Trauma/Stat Inpatient scans are in the queue to be done and how to reach the MR tech at each location MR/Neuro Fellow will forward their pager to the x5063 pager from 2-8 am (2-7 am on weekends) If resident is getting slammed at 2 am and there are MRIs coming down the pike, the Fellow can assist/decompress until 3 am

Resident Responsibility
Protocoling: MR/Neuro Fellow will have protocoled all requests up to 2 am; if any new requests come in thereafter the MR tech will page the resident for the protocol No need to protocol non-STAT studies RadPrelim ER/Trauma/STAT Inpatients Use Neuro MR All list As always, document who you spoke to when there is an acute/critical finding For Non-Stat Inpatients No need to review unless you get called by the clinician If you do get called, I-box as such “No acute findings. F/U final read in AM” RadPrelim up to 5 MRIs (overall)

Relief Valve and Back-up
If volume exceeds 5 MRIs and/or if you need help on the MRIs that you are preliming, ask the MRI tech to send the study to V-Rad Also remember that you can always page the Neuroradiology Attending on-call

UCSD MR technologist hours
Hillcrest Sunday – Thursday 24 hours Friday 06:30 – 11PM Saturday 06:30 – 11PM Thornton Monday – Friday 24 hours Sat and Sun 07:30 – 7PM

VA MRI Tech on-call pager (if unable to reach, call Dr. Gentili directly) In-house M-F until 10-10:30PM (weekends are variable) VA policy to come in overnight only for indications where MRI will change immediate management: r/o cauda equina/cord compression, spinal epidural abscess, etc.

Things you are not responsible for!
For any MSK MR questions, refer them to on-call MSK fellow For any Body MR questions, refer them to on-call Body fellow For any LP questions, refer them to on-call Neuro fellow No longer require consent prior to non-contrast MRI of pregnant women
