Open-source movement includes YouTube, Khan Academy, OER, MIT OpenSource, etc. Curriculum will be student-centered “Research from the 1990s shows that students’ interest is directly correlated to their achievement” (p. 2) Students as authors and creators Skills 2.0 “The ability to leverage the collective wisdom that thrives online” (p. 3) Changing the way assessments are created

Implications & Opportunities
Technology supports these initiatives! Delivery Students can receive information via multiple avenues, including via technological means. Interest Learning becomes personalized when teachers take time to match individual students to specific tasks and passions, aided by technology tools like Thrively Skills 2.0 Real world problem-solving Communicating to vast, global audiences

Collaborative Students can share creations with a global network via social media Engages both parents and students in learning Tech-Powered Tools like Minecraft Education Edition and blogging platforms like Seesaw, KidBlog, and Storybird create a variety of authorship opportunities Blended Students are no longer passive participants in instruction Inquiry and project-based learning projects support curriculum
