2 William Miller’s Study Method
"I determined to lay aside all my prepossessions, to thoroughly compare Scripture with Scripture, and to pursue its study in a regular and methodical manner. I commenced with Genesis, and read verse by verse, proceeding no faster than the meaning of the several passages should be so unfolded as to leave me free from embarrassment respecting any mysticisms or contradictions. Whenever I found anything obscure, my practice was to compare it with all collateral passages; and, by the help of Cruden, I examined all the texts of Scripture in which were found any of the prominent words contained in any obscure portion.

3 Explain how this is also the structure when you already have an idea based on many witnesses. 1 Cor 2:13, 2 Cor 13:1, Isa 28:9-10. This structure represents the teaching method of the Holy Spirit. It shows how every word is established. It reveals how to understand doctrine. What an amazing structure! But what may we call it?

4 Gospel Explanations - English
Mark 1:15 – “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.” Rom 1:16 – “the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth [the gospel]; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” Rev 14:7 – “Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.”

5 All Gospel Fundamentals
believe God Gospel

6 Jesus is the Gospel Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

7 Col 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. So we may call the o-0-o structure the fundamental definition of the gospel or simply the gospel. We may call it the “word of truth” and hence a name of Jesus Christ. We may denote Jesus Christ and thus the fullness of the godhead bodily (Col 2:9) by this structure. We may also call it the method by which to do anything.

8 Mat 18:20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
The method of the righteousness of Christ. Can we hold the truth in unrighteousness. This is always the pattern of righteouness, but this pattern appearing does not necessarily imply righteousness if fulfilled.

9 The Father is all the fulness of the Godhead bodily, and is invisible to mortal sight.
The Son is all the fulness of the Godhead manifested. The Word of God declares Him to be "the express image of His person." "God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Here is shown the personality of the Father. The Comforter that Christ promised to send after He ascended to heaven, is the Spirit in all the fulness of the Godhead, making manifest the power of divine grace to all who receive and believe in Christ as a personal Saviour. There are three living persons of the heavenly trio; in the name of these three great powers--the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit-- those who receive Christ by living faith are baptized, and these powers will co-operate with the obedient subjects of heaven in their efforts to live the new life in Christ. {Ev }

10 Key of Victory THE LIFE Divine Power “Living connection” Living soul
Will Body Spirit Living soul Powers

11 Key of Victory The Word His words Spirit Will Body Powers
Christ is the one who comes to us and reaches out to us first. The active treasuring of Christ’s words to us establishes the connection with All Power, but we still must engage our will to let this power reveal itself in our powers of spirit and body.

12 Living Connection of Faith
Whatever may be your weakness, [however] compassed with infirmities, there is hope for you in God. {CTr 258.5} "If a man love Me," Christ said, "he will keep My words; and My Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him." John 14:23. The spell of a stronger, a perfect mind will be over us; for we have a living connection with the source of all-enduring strength. In our divine life we shall be brought into captivity to Jesus Christ. We shall no longer live the common life of selfishness, but Christ will live in us. His character will be reproduced in our nature. Thus shall we bring forth the fruits of the Holy Spirit--"some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred." {COL 61.3}

13 Rain Deu 32:2-3 My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass: Because I will publish the name of the LORD: ascribe ye greatness unto our God. He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he. Pro 25:25 As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.

14 Home of the Latter Rain “The presence of Christ alone can make men and women happy. All the common waters of life Christ can turn into the wine of heaven. The home then becomes as an Eden of bliss; the family, a beautiful symbol of the family in heaven.” {AH 28.1} H2O

30 Boston Second Advent Conference
“Up until 1842 the adherence to a definite time for the parousia was still an open question, but as the year 1843 approached, there was in the mission motivation of those who accepted the doctrine of an imminent Second Advent an increasing emphasis on time. From then on the "non-timeists" receded into the background. At the Boston Second Advent Conference (May 24, 1842) the time element came definitely to the front…” {1977 PGD, FSDA 37.1}

31 Boston Second Advent Conference
“Boston Second Advent Conference. --This convocation of the believers in the doctrine of Christ's second coming at hand, has proved a season of unusual interest and importance… It will be seen also by the resolutions which follow, that the conference as such have taken higher ground on the subject of the time of Christ's coming than ever before… The measures, also, adopted by the conference, were of a highly important character; especially the proposition for a series of Camp-meetings.” {June 1, 1842 JVHe, HST }

32 Give Glory to Him! Therefore resolved, that in the opinion of this Conference, there are most serious and important reasons for believing that God has revealed the time of the end of the world and that that time is 1843; Resolved, That the time has fully come for those, who believe in the Second Advent of our Lord Jesus Christ in 1843, to show their faith by their works. Resolved, That we cannot discharge our duty to God and the souls of our fellow men, without doing our utmost to lay before the world as extensively as possible the truth of God on this subject as we find it in the Holy Scriptures. Resolved, That we are all called upon, loudly, and for the last time, to bring to this work the best employment of all the means we have at command. Resolved, That we are all bound to make this year such an one as we would wish should close our probation, and carry us to the judgment seat of Christ. {June 1, 1842 JVHe, HST }

36 1843 Chart Presented In May, 1842, a General Conference was convened in Boston, Mass. At the opening of this meeting, Brn. Charles Fitch and Apollos Hale, of Haverhill, presented the pictorial prophecies of Daniel and John, which they had painted on cloth, with the prophetic numbers, showing their fulfillment. Bro. Fitch in explaining from his chart before the Conference, said, while examining these prophecies, he had thought if he could get out something of the kind as here presented it would simplify the subject and make it easier for him to present to an audience. Here was more light in our pathway. These brethren had been doing what the Lord had shown Habbakuk in his vision 2468 years before, saying, "Write the vision and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time." Hab.ii,2. {1868 JB, AJB 262.1}

37 Message Empowered After some discussion on the subject, it was voted unanimously to have three hundred similar to this one lithographed, which was soon accomplished. They were called "the '43 charts." This was a very important Conference. A camp meeting was now appointed to convene the last week in June, at East Kingston, N.H., where an immense multitude assembled to hear the good news and glad tidings of the coming of our blessed Lord. I had not the pleasure of attending this meeting, but heard most stirring reports of what was accomplished there. Camp meetings and conferences were now being multiplied throughout the Middle and Northern States, and Canada, and the messengers were proclaiming in the language of the message, "T H E H O U R O F H I S J U D G E M E N T I S C O M E!" {1868 JB, AJB 263.1}

38 Message Empowered Who among the many thousands that crowded to the camp and great tent meetings about this time, at East Kingston, Littleton, Taunton, Salem, etc., does not distinctly remember the crowded steamboats, the overflowing cars, the jammed stage coaches, and almost all kinds of travelling vehicles, filled with men women and children; besides foot passengers crossing and re-crossing from every cross road, and almost every by-path, pressing into the great thoroughfares, all making their way to or from the Second Advent campground; many of them probably to gratify their vain curiosity, while thousands of others were filled with anxiety to learn the truth of this (said to be) new doctrine, by listening to these flying messengers of God, who were "saying with a loud voice, fear God and giveglory to him, for the hour of his judgment is come," in other words, "the end of all things is at hand." We believe that Christ will come in {1847 JB, BP2 52.3}

40 J. G. Whittier Describes East Kingston
"Suspended from the front of the rude pulpit were two broad sheets of canvass, upon one of which was the figure of a man, - the head of gold, the breast and arms of silver, the belly of brass, the legs of iron, and feet of clay, - the dream of Nebuchadnezzar! On the other were depicted the wonders of the Apocalyptic vision - the beasts - the dragons - the scarlet woman seen by the seer of Patmos - oriental types and figures and mystic symbols translated into staring Yankee realities and exhibited like the beasts of a travelling menagerie. {1853 SB, MWM 166.1}

43 Law over Gospel Weighing us Down

44 We are the final generation so we work, we obey, we have faith, we advocate
The ministry of Future for America is earnestly working to proclaim the final warning message of Revelation 14. The end-time fulfillment of Bible-prophecy is taking place before our very eyes. We are the final generation of this earth’s history. Through obedience to God’s law, and faith in the promises of His Word, we are to receive the experience that will enable us to stand during these solemn times. In conjunction with the prophetic message, Future for America advocates all aspects involved in medical missionary work and country living. (home page,

47 Principle and Prophecy
Isa 8:20 [To the] law and [to the] testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

48 The Whole Law Mat 22: Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

49 Fulfillment of Law and Prophecy
Mat 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

50 Worshiping the God of our Fathers
Act 24:14 But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets:

51 Righteousness of God by Faith
Rom 3: Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ…

52 Practical Revelation For a wonderful description of what this means to us practically in terms of Jesus effecting our character development, please listen to… Dennis Smith. (2008). “Abiding in Christ.” [audio sermon].
