1 Write down these questions as you wait for the bell
Write down these questions as you wait for the bell. The video will start right as class does. 1. How are visual aids used during this speech? 2. How does he effectively present his information verbally? Visually? 3. What could he have done better/differently? What did he do that you can use in your speech?

2 Creating a PowerPoint Your visual aid (your PowerPoint) should enhance your speech – not detract or distract from it (like the image to the right). Stay away from flashy colors or distracting images. You want your audience to glance at the images for clarity, not stare at them in confusion. Just like your speech, the most important part of this should be the information conveyed.

3 PowerPoint 101 Pick a slide color or background that is neutral and calming for your audience (blues, browns, greens, black, white) You should not have complete sentences on your slides. At most, you should have four or five key words The slides should serve as an outline or guide for your audience to follow, but you want them to listen to you, not be reading it off of the board. Your slides should mostly consist of guiding words and images to enhance your speech topic.

8 Now work on developing your PowerPoint
Now work on developing your PowerPoint. We will go over works cited pages tomorrow. Make sure you create these using Google Slides in your class folder. If you are not yet finished your outline, or you have not had your thesis checked by me yet, you need to finish that today in class and come during BULL A to work on the PowerPoint.

9 What you should accomplish today
If you did not finish your outline that needs to be finished. I also need to approve everyone’s thesis statements before you start working on your slides. If you have not adjusted your thesis statement in your outline based off my feedback yesterday, you need to do this. If you did not color code your outline according to the colors that your facts were in the facts sheet, you need to do this. If you did not include citations in your outline, you MUST go back during class and do this – NOTE: the highest grade you will receive on your outline if you do not include these is a 70 because it is plagiarism if you do not do this. Develop your slides
