CYBER NB is a deliberate action plan to build upon our foundation and create a world-class industry cluster and supporting ecosystem in the Province Cyber threats are real and growing – Driving policy, standards and accountability NB will lead in Canada – National Epicentre for Cybersecurity Opportunities NB is spearheading a cross Government effort Appointed Director Cybersecurity to lead the plan – Allen Dillon Government, Academia, Industry all have important roles and responsibilities Collaboration nationally and internationally is an imperative We are executing now – seizing the initiative in Canada and building strong relationships Core Message: We see cybersecurity as a top priority for opportunity and as critical for the future security of our Province We have a plan and we are acting on it We require collaboration in the Province and Federally We are working with partners nationally and internationally

Dedicated to securing NB systems and raising public/industry awareness to cybersecurity threats Develop Awareness Campaigns/Education on cybersecurity ‘10 Steps to Cybersecurity’ ‘Cybersecurity Health Check and Audit’ Policy development and expertise On-line Training courses Cybersecurity training for Government and Businesses Corporate Finance training in cybersecurity Security Operations Centre investments Incentives to corporations that adopt ‘CyberEssentials’ skills Canadian Institute for Cybersecurity Dedicated research facility with laboratory and collaboration facilities Key priority for government This is ideally located in UNB with national and international collaboration in research Essential element in executing key research for programs Canadian programs and industry engagement UNB leadership engagement CIC funding support Develop technology transfer targets National security research engagement National Program investment CYBERSmart NB Represents a focused development of a cybersecurity educational pipeline to train new information security experts and accelerate workforce development Raise awareness and capabilities in cybersecurity education Alignment of Government assets in education Support to institutions to realize goals Execute ‘Boot camps’ to accelerate workforce development Open to Public/Private cyber education partnerships CYBERSpark NB A foundational program to support the creation and continued growth of cybersecurity technologies, industry cluster and jobs in NB Targeted investment and export agenda New infrastructure Access to capital Establish National Centre for Cybersecurity Host National & International events CYBERInnovate NB represents the establishment of a new incubator dedicated to start-ups and new tech development in cybersecurity Home to regional, national and international industry collaboration Leverage in Federal programs Priority for investment attraction of new skills and companies While still in draft format, the developing CYBER NB programs are in the 5 key areas listed on this graphic: Cyberspark NB is a foundational program to the development and attraction of key industry players in cybersecurity. This includes the establishment of relevant facilities over a 5 year plan and ties to key financial services businesses in the US and Canada CyberInnovate represents the establishment of a new Incubator dedicated to start-ups and new tech development in mature companies. This will be home to regional, national and international collaboration. Canadian Institute for Cybersecurity is a dedicated research facility with laboratory and collaboration facilities. This is ideally located in UNB and essential to capturing key programs in Canada through Industrial Technological Benefits in Major Crown Procurements. CyberSecure NB is a program dedicated to securing key systems in NB and being a model for cybersecurity leadership in Government, Corporate and Industrial Canada. CyberSmart NB represents a series of initiatives aimed at excellence in cybersecurity education, coding and workforce development. The aim of these 5 programs is to produce an ecosystem that is unparalleled for attraction, development and fostering of a sustainable cybersecurity workforce that will export nationally and internationally from NB.

CYBER SMART NB OBJECTIVES:
To Meet the Talent Requirements of the NB Cyber Security and ICT Sectors and Contribute to National Talent Requirements. To Ensure a Coordinated Approach to Talent Securement Within the Education, Training, Immigration and Recruitment Landscape. To Ensure Collaboration Between Industry, Academia and Government in Talent Development and Securement. To Lead the Development of a National Accreditation and Certification Model for Individuals Engaged in Cyber Security in Canada.

CYBER SMART NB In order to meet our projected targets for the Talent Pipeline, the uptake has to increase across the board. Universities and Colleges must increase their output. Public Education must also increase it’s output. Relevance and career mentoring/support will be paramount. Co-operative Education programs will play a significant role Involving relevant work experience as well as industry-based mentorship. Across all levels K-12 College University

CYBER SMART NB Working collaboratively with EECD to provide resources and opportunities to create opportunities for career awareness. Working in concert with Post-Secondary (public and private) to ensure seamless integration. To help change the culture of Career choice in NB. Working in concert with InspireNB to both augment and take advantage of their careers database. Working collaboratively with ICTC to engage industry members interested in helping to change the current culture.
