3 EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES
Market Drivers WEALTH OF CONTENT CONTENT OPENNESS EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES USER EXPERIENCE LIBRARY UNIQUENESS BIG DATA INTELLIGENCE USERS LIBRARIES INSTITUTIONS As we analyze the trends in the market, listen to customers and experts – we see 6 core market drivers that guide our product vision: User Experience: students are growingly accustomed to the immediacy of information, intuitive search options and easy availability of content regardless of the device they use, their physical location, or the source of the content. They expect the same experience at the library. Library Uniqueness: As content become widely available, libraries need to emphasize their uniqueness – by showcasing their special collections and promoting their brand throughout the discovery process. Content Openness and Completeness: The need to display all relevant content as part of the discovery is key to libraries and users. This requires search neutrality, openness and collaboration among vendors. Big Data Intelligence: Central index include huge amounts of data. Managing this data, analyzing usage, and acting on insights will enable libraries greater ability to optimize their collections and improve the discovery experience. Emerging Technologies: new technologies enable better user experience, a more comprehensive discovery, and enhanced operational efficiency. Global Community: Collaboration between libraries on a global scale is on the rise. The ability to share knowledge and resources is key for libraries in order to stay at the forefront. Our roadmap is guided by this vision, helping us to focus product developments on addressing these current and emerging needs.

4 EMPOWERING LIBRARIES TO SHAPE THE DISCOVERY EXPERIENCE
This is where Primo comes into play. We provide libraries the ability to shape the discovery experience of their users – students, faculty and staff, and to maximize the value of library collections and services. PROVIDING STUDENTS, FACULTY AND STAFF WITH AN INTUITIVE, END-TO-END SERVICE, AND MAXIMIZING THE VALUE OF LIBRARY COLLECTIONS

5 Understanding Users’ Needs

6 Key Insights into User Experience
Ex Libris User Studies Log Analysis Customer Feedback Increased use of mobile devices Learning through discovery Diverse needs of students & faculty Known-items searches > 50% of queries Reading lists: key gateway to the library for undergraduates Differences across disciplines

7 Patrons Library Bridging the Gap Enhance User Engagement
At the end it’s all about bringing Patrons and libraries closer. The library wants to expose its wealth of content and services to users and maximize its impact Patrons expect the library to serve them “in their terms” – i.e. in the way that is most convenient for them, and with the tools that are familiar to them Bridging the gap between patrons and libraries is the key to: Enhance user engagement – students and faculty Maximize library contribution to research teaching & learning Demonstrate the value of library services to the decision-makers across the institution This is the main challenge we aim to address. Let’s see how this challenge translates into the Primo roadmap Enhance User Engagement Maximize Library Contribution to Research Teaching & Learning Demonstrate Value of Library Services
