8 A new school year… A time to look forward with confidence…
What would you like to achieve this year? Imagine yourself succeeding at your goals… How are you going to make this happen?

9 Could too much confidence be a negative thing?

10 Confident Being POSITIVE about what you want to do
Lack of confidence Being afraid to make mistakes Arrogant Being big headed and rude 10

11 The Private Response Activity
I need a hero… This is a great activity for you to do to increase children's self esteem. What you need to do is: Sellotape a piece of A4/A3 paper to every child's back in the class Ask the children to walk around the class and write a nice thing about each child on the paper. The class must write a nice word on EVERY child's back to ensure inclusion in the class. When they have done so they can take the piece of paper off their back and read the words written about them. You can then discuss the feelings that went on while children were writing on their backs. I have done this activity with my class and they loved it and it allows the less social children to join in and enjoy it. 11

12 Think of a word that describes one of their positive

13 ‘What would I like people to say about me?’
Self reflection… ‘What would I like people to say about me?’ This is a great activity for you to do to increase children's self esteem. What you need to do is: Sellotape a piece of A4/A3 paper to every child's back in the class Ask the children to walk around the class and write a nice thing about each child on the paper. 14 ‘I am pleased/surprised/delighted at how people see me – I feel more confident about myself.’

26 CONFIDENCE in others Having TRUST that you can rely on other people – that they do what they say they will do… all the time! 26

27 A value is a principle that guides our thinking and behaviour
How does CONFIDENCE do this?

28 A quiet moment of prayer or reflection...
CONFIDENCE

29 As we reflect, think about how CONFIDENCE makes the world a better place to be.

30 A prayer for all of us Here in our school
Let us be peaceful at all times. Let our rooms be full of happiness and respect for each other. Let love be in our hearts With kindness and compassion for all. Let us remember In learning together, We grow together And succeed together.

31 We are all around you and want to help you by doing our best for you.
At the start of this new school year, think hard about having confidence in yourself and confidence in others. If you ever lack confidence or are in a situation made to feel unconfident, uncomfortable or scared…find someone who will be able to help you feel better. We are all around you and want to help you by doing our best for you.

32 If you aren’t feeling very confident about something, what could you do to improve the situation?

33 Can you think of a time when someone has been over confident and the consequences of their actions?
