Lessons from Isaiah External vs. Internal
The power of a petition is not in the roof of the mouth, but in the root of the heart. - J. Trapp August 20, 2017

Isaiah 28:20 For the bed is too short to stretch oneself on, and the covering too narrow to wrap oneself in.

Isaiah 29:6-10 Vss Astonish yourselves and be astonished; blind yourselves and be blind! Be drunk, but not with wine; stagger, but not with strong drink! For the Lord has poured out upon you a spirit of deep sleep, and has closed your eyes (the prophets), and covered your heads (the seers).

Isaiah 29:13 And the Lord said: “Because this people draw near with their mouth and honor me with their lips, while their hearts are far from me, and their fear of me is a commandment taught by men,

Matthew 15:7-9 You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, when he said: “‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me; in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’”

Amos 5:21 I hate, I despise your feasts, and I take no delight in your solemn assemblies.

Isaiah 29:13 And the Lord said: “Because this people draw near with their mouth and honor me with their lips, while their hearts are far from me, and their fear of me is a commandment taught by men,

Mark 7:8-13 You leave the commandment of God and hold to the tradition of men…

Isaiah 29:18-19 In that day the deaf shall hear the words of a book, and out of their gloom and darkness the eyes of the blind shall see. The meek shall obtain fresh joy in the Lord, and the poor among mankind shall exult in the Holy One of Israel.

Isaiah 29:22-24 Therefore thus says the Lord, who redeemed Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob: “Jacob shall no more be ashamed, no more shall his face grow pale. For when he sees his children, the work of my hands, in his midst, they will sanctify my name; they will sanctify the Holy One of Jacob and will stand in awe of the God of Israel. And those who go astray in spirit will come to understanding, and those who murmur will accept instruction.”

Isaiah 30:15 For thus said the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, “In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.” But you were unwilling,

For Our Consideration Is there any area of our life that we have shut off to God? Are we play acting in our relationship towards the Lord? How’s our heart –sensitive or hard towards the Lord? His Word? Are we living in life or death? Do we have joy or something less than rest in the Lord?

Prayer Focus Thank You Lord for Your gift of salvation Thank You for a new life Thank You for Your word to lead, guide, and instruct us daily Thank You for communion
