1 Toolik Information System

2 Background Recommendations at the last two Science Vision Workshops
A TFS management need to gather project requirements before projects arrive at TFS in a consistent and comprehensive way Consolidation of TFS reservations and service requests Reporting and tracking requirements SVW: Recommendations from the SVW were to create a comprehensive database of all the projects at Toolik, their publications, links to their publicly available data, plot locations, principal investagators, and other project metadata. Management: A large number of projects don’t require letters of support. Often need more detail than letters often include. Need complete infomration on projects to plan lab space, staffing, transportation options, infrastructure changes, safety and permitting efforts Consolidation: TFS has a wide array of services, and a wide array of mechanisms to request and access these. Include online requests for truck seats, EDC equipment, GIS services, houring reservations. Clipboards for local truck use, snow machines. Ask in person for many science support services and others. Consolidation of requesting and tracking mechinsisms would really help project managers. Reporting: TFS has a need to track how heavily different services and equipment is being used, how much effort we are spending on different aspects of our operations and on specifics requests.

3 Toolik Information System (TIS)
TIS: A system that will collect basic project information, serve as a portal for TFS projects to manage most aspects of their stay at TFS, and collect and share publicly information on project locations, publications, research data, and other project metadata. Stage 1: Project registration and approval (almost complete) Stage 2: Project management dashboard Stage 2.1: Project data and publications Stage 3: Integrate project and spatial data

4 Stage 1: Project Registration and Approval
All reservations at TFS will have to be associated with an approved project Four different types of projects: Research, Field Trips, Media/Outreach, Other PIs and other project managers will have accounts under which they can manage all of their projects
