3 Emergency Drills EVACUATION
Fire/ Explosion/ Smell of Smoke/ Gas Odor/ Fire Alarm/ Bomb Threat REVERSE EVACUATION Weather situation, hazardous chemical spill outside building, or any other situation requiring a protective action LOCKDOWN Intruder/Weapons/Hostage/Active Shooter/Hostile Individual/Criminal activity SEVERE WEATHER High winds/ Hail/ Thunderstorms/Lightning/Tornados SHELTER IN PLACE Hazardous chemical spill outside building or requiring a protective action Instruct students to calmly leave the building. If purses and backpacks are within arm length student may take these items outside with them. Check room for any suspicious items Take attendance roster, go-kit with you. Make sure classroom door is closed and preferably unlocked Keep students QUIET and CALM. Do not let any student leave without proper authorization.

4 Evacuation When you hear the fire alarm or other emergency announcement, begin campus building evacuation, and student accountability procedures. Report to assembly areas outside the campus. Follow instructions given by administrator or Law Enforcement Officer. f relocation is necessary, account for all students before boarding the bus and again when arriving to the new location.

5 Reverse Evacuation A reverse evacuation can be initiated due to weather or any other situation requiring a protective action. A campus administrator or school personnel will initiate reverse evacuation procedures and instruct staff members to bring all individuals that are outside into the building to a safe area. Check hallways and bring students into classrooms or safe location Account for all students and staff members.

6 Lockdown The administrator or school personnel will announce LOCKDOWN three times over the intercom system. Ensure all doors are locked. Keep students quiet and out of view. If the door can not be locked initiate the process of barricading the door. Account for all students – Do not let any student leave. Based on the severity of the storm and current weather conditions, portable building occupants will be instructed to move inside to main building. If instructed move students to pre-designated safe areas. Upon reaching designated area teachers should account for all students. Staff will check areas to ensure every student has been located. Follow instructions given by administrator or law enforcement officer.

7 Lockdown Phones (including cell phones) are not to be used unless communicating critical information to school administrators or Law Enforcement Remain in locked classrooms until Law Enforcement Officer unlocks the classroom door. Based on the severity of the storm and current weather conditions, portable building occupants will be instructed to move inside to main building. If instructed move students to pre-designated safe areas. Upon reaching designated area teachers should account for all students. Staff will check areas to ensure every student has been located. Follow instructions given by administrator or law enforcement officer.

8 Severe Weather SEVERE WEATHER announcement will be made to initiate campus severe weather procedures. Ensure to initiate accountability procedures. In case of tornados, seat students in one row facing the interior walls and in multiple rows facing the same direction. Keep students calm and follow procedures. Do not let any student leave without proper authorization. Based on the severity of the storm and current weather conditions, portable building occupants will be instructed to move inside to main building. If instructed move students to pre-designated safe areas. Upon reaching designated area teachers should account for all students. Staff will check areas to ensure every student has been located. Follow instructions given by administrator or law enforcement officer.

9 Shelter in Place Announcement will be made to initiate Shelter in Place procedures. Shelter in Place can be used for incidents that require protective actions. Close doors and shut off air intake system for classroom if necessary. Find a way to seal any gaps in doors or window that might allow air to infiltrate classroom. Do not let any student leave the classroom. Follow instructions provided by the administrator and Law Enforcement Officer.

10 Campus Emergency Drill Schedule
The emergency drills will be conducted utilizing the whole campus. Recommended time frame to conduct the emergency drills between 9:00 am to 11:00 am. July 31st through August 11th Fire Drill (within the first 10 days of school) August 14th through August 25th Lockdown August 28th through September 8th Severe Weather – Reverse Evacuation September 11th through September 22nd Shelter in Place October 16th through October 27th Evacuation – without the use of the fire alarm Fire Drills – Monthly

14 Bomb Threat U.S. Department of Homeland Security What you can do when there is a bomb threat op Provide law enforcement officers with as much detail as possible about incident. During the emergency follow instructions set forth by administrator or Law Enforcement Officer. (Note: If students cannot be moved safely into a secure area they should be evacuated to a safe distance off campus. Notify administrator or law enforcement officer of evacuation site as soon as possible (cell phone).
