1. The Kingdom of God
Transcendence - “the state of being beyond and outside of the ordinary range of human experience”
We were created to desire transcendence because we were designed for Glory (Genesis 1-2)
God’s Glory
Community Glory
Kingdom Glory

2. The Kingdom of Self
The great lie/deception we buy into takes place in Genesis 3. We exchange the Kingdom of God for the kingdom of self.
With self as the center of this kingdom, we desire more but we always end up getting less
Two “Tragedies” of living for this kingdom:
We “SHRINK” our lives to the size of our kingdom
We settle for “NORMAL”

3. What is “Normal”:
You do stuff because you feel like it
You sleepwalk through routines
You live for the weekend
You talk about your future and live in the past
You treat people as a means to accomplish your goals
Your image doesn’t really match who you know yourself to be
Titles, things, and achievements fuel your sense of worth
You yearn for intimacy but few people actually know you
You never have enough
