3 curious What Does It Mean? If you are curious, you are very interested in learning or finding out things. Sentence: You can search the Internet if you are curious, or want to learn, about sea animals. Think About It: How you ever been curious about how birds fly? How can you find out?

4 motion What kind of motion do you use when you swim? Describe it.
What Does It Mean? A motion is an action or movement. Sentence: A hand held up is a motion to stop! Think About It: What kind of motion do you use when you swim? Describe it.

5 silence When have you heard total silence? What was it like?
What Does It Mean? Silence is a lack of sound. Sentence: The rule in the library is “Silence! Please don’t speak.” Think About It: When have you heard total silence? What was it like?

6 illness How did you help someone with an illness feel better?
What Does It Mean? If you have an illness, you are not healthy. Sentence: This child has an illness, but she won’t be sick for long. Think About It: How did you help someone with an illness feel better?

7 imitated Have you ever imitated your teacher? What did you do?
What Does It Mean? When you imitated something, you copied it. Sentence: This girl imitated, or copied, her teacher to learn sign language. Think About It: Have you ever imitated your teacher? What did you do?

8 darkness Which senses can you use in the darkness? What Does It Mean?
Darkness means without light. Sentence: Flashlights help people see better in darkness. Think About It: Which senses can you use in the darkness?

9 behavior What Does It Mean? Someone’s behavior is his or her way of acting. Sentence: Taking a telephone message is good behavior. It is a polite way to act. Think About It: Have you ever been able to change the behavior of a pet? How did its behavior change?
