founded in 1908 Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated® (AKA) is the oldest Greek-letter organization established by African American college-educated women. AKA has a legacy of community service that spans over 109 years. Our volunteer network of over 280,000 college-educated women put the sorority’s credo – “To be Supreme in Service to All Mankind” – into action by generously volunteering their time and donating their resources to implement high impact community service programs that improve the quality of life, promote education and wellness, and develop community leaders. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® has been hailed as the premier service organization founded by African American women.

founded in 1908 Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority’s International Program focus for is Launching New Dimensions of Service℠ and through its 283,000 members and 986 chapters, the sorority will address community needs with programs in five target areas. Target I - Educational Enrichment: Engage in the sorority’s youth enrichment program, ASCEND℠ with efforts designed to motivate, engage and assist high school students in reaching their maximum potential. promote the learning process by providing substantial support to students through AKA One Million Backpacks℠ and Think HBCU℠ * initiative. Target II - Health Promotion: Promote health awareness in three areas: Alzheimer's Disease, Stroke and Mental Illness. Target III - Family Strengthening: Target critical issues facing many families, including lack of food, shelter and financial means. Target IV - Environmental Ownership: Implement high impact programs to provide healthy environments and improve the quality of life in the underserved communities through AKA 1,908 Playgrounds Project℠ and AKA Acts of Green. Target V - Global Impact: Alpha Kappa Alpha members will work in partnership with the UNA-USA (United Nations Association) to expand understanding of the United Nations, its mission and focus. Renewed Africare partnership focused on youth hunger initiatives. *Historically Black Colleges & Universities
