3 II. Net Force When two or more forces act on an object at the same time, the forces combine creating a net force 3 kinds of net forces 1. Balanced (no movement) equal forces in opposite directions

4 2. Unbalanced forces - unequal forces in opposite directions cause movement

5 3. Another unbalanced force - combined forces in the same direction can cause movement

6 III. Inertia A. Tendency of an object to resist change in its motion
B. Law of inertia is Newton’s 1st Law of Motion: an object moving at a constant velocity keeps moving at that velocity unless an unbalanced net force acts on it. C. This is why objects at rest, stay at rest unless a net force acts on it. D. Examples??
