2. I. Force A. push or a pull B. May or may not set an object into motion

3. II. Net Force
When two or more forces act on an object at the same time, the forces combine creating a net force
3 kinds of net forces
1. Balanced
(no movement)
equal forces in opposite directions

4. 2. Unbalanced forces - unequal forces in opposite directions cause movement

5. 3. Another unbalanced force - combined forces in the same direction can cause movement

6. III. Inertia A. Tendency of an object to resist change in its motion
B. Law of inertia is Newton’s 1st Law of Motion: an object moving at a constant velocity keeps moving at that velocity unless an unbalanced net force acts on it.
C. This is why objects at rest, stay at rest unless a net force acts on it.
