In order to keep your kids safe, you'll need to know about the different types of online dangers that exist. For example, kids and teens may find inappropriate content on the Internet, such as pornography or obscene language.

Protect Yourself by Socializing Safely Online How you are perceived by others is your responsibility. Protect Privacy: Don’t share personal or family information. Post only information that is appropriate for the entire public.

Bullying has been one of the unfortunate parts of the life in the schoolyard, but as we increasing move our lives on-line, bullying is taking on a new form. An increase in youth suicide and children dropping out of school has been linked to cyber bullying and despite the warns being out for some years, parents are now seeking more information.

Bullying is such a hot issue lately. If you only had the news to go on, you might think it’s a recent phenomenon. But many adults just have to think back on their own childhoods to know that it is nothing new.

7 Dealing With Cyber Bullying
Technology means that bullying is no longer limited to schoolyards or street corners. Cyberbullying can occur anywhere, even at home, via , texts, cell phones, and social media websites 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with potentially hundreds of people involved. For those who suffer cyberbullying, the effects can be devastating, leaving you feeling hurt, humiliated, angry, depressed, or even suicidal. But no type of bullying should ever be tolerated. These tips can help you protect yourself or your child online and deal with the growing problem of cyberbullying.

8 Becoming Respectful Internet Citizens
When you want to be respectful, try to put yourself in someone else's shoes and behave in a way that shows you care. At its heart, being respectful means showing that you value other people's perspectives, time and space.

9 Using The Internet Responsibly
The internet is a great place and one that we could not live without these days.  But we must remember that everything may not be as it seems. People who use the internet may not be who they say they are and information you find on the internet may not be true.

10 Taking The Surfer’s Pledge
You can take steps to protect yourself online. Take the Safe Web Surfer pledge by promising to obey the following rules: 1. I will talk to my parents about what I’m doing online and discuss the Web sites I’m visiting 2. I will never agree to meet with anyone whom I become acquainted with online 3. I promise not to surf sites that are bad for me – including hate sites, or sites that talk about violence or drugs.
