Brief Status SPS Prototype PSB Prototype Installed in LS1
First operational tests, end 2015, additional operational tests, end 2016 Demonstrated: No interference with machine performance (vacuum, impedance) No discernible impedance heating of the wire Nominal (20 ms-1) operating cycles with and without beam Trigger and signal acquisition First beam tests indicate better global performance than linear scanners 2nd prototype hardware used for parallel development of control system, lifetime testing, impedance testing, vacuum qualification PSB Prototype Instrument re-designed for integration into the Booster, along with ‘industrialisation’ of mechanics, acquisition and movement control Installation during EYETS (awaiting calibration of instrument before installation) 2nd prototype used in parallel for development of control system, lifetime and impedance testing

Project milestones Mechanics series ready to install for end 2018
Order for vacuum tanks >200 kCHF, so needs Market Survey in March 2017 IT in April 2017 for contract placement in June 2017 Other contracts to be placed from June 2017 Implies production readiness review ~March 2017 Initial PSB results not before June 2017 Could still be in time to delay contract placement if required Tests not with final control or acquisition electronics Motor control series ready to install mid-2019 Final prototype ready for end 2017 Production to start mid 2018
