Based on what you have talked about so far, what do you think the two terms mean? How are they similar? How are they different? Formal = political and economic element (both direct and indirect) Informal = only economic element

3 Assignment In groups you will research a topic that took place in China or Latin America during the era of imperialism. For your topic do the following: 1. Research the details of the topic from start to finish 2. Identify the effects of the topic BOTH for the Imperialist power & the victim of Imperialism. 3. Explain how your topic is an example of OR a reaction to informal imperialism. 4. Create an image (cartoon) illustrating your topic in some way that showcase all involved. Be prepared to present

7 After Presentations Based off of all the previous presentations create your OWN definition of informal imperialism. Which do you think was better for the mother country? Informal/Formal? Why? Which do you think was better for the target country? Informal/Formal? Why?
