1 Undergraduate Laboratories: Course Check-In List
Complete the safety documentation for each of your chemistry laboratory courses. Complete the Emergency Contact Information Form. Learn the evacuation route; be aware of the designated meeting area. Learn your role in promoting a culture of laboratory safety. Before the first wet lab (and every following lab) consider lab policies regarding: Appropriate dress and proper protective equipment. Safe chemical handling and waste procedures General hygiene and clean up protocols (personal items, hands, and work-space) Understand your role in shared space awareness and citizenship. Shared space “rules” are especially significant when multiple lab courses share the same room (such as Inorganic, Polymer, and Honors Organic Labs sharing Chevron 410). All students are required to: Learn and act on lab rules for shared equipment and space Learn and act on lab rules for synthetic intermediate and product storage Notify lab instructor when unlabeled samples or reagents are found in lab

Empty your drawer and replace paper lining. Clean your equipment. Take an inventory of equipment and then: Place surplus equipment in designated area Replace missing, broken or damaged equipment Obtain your instructor’s signature on the inventory form Lock your drawer Properly dispose of all compounds you prepared during the semester. Clean your laboratory work-space. Clean shared space assigned to you by your instructor. Properly clean and store any shared equipment as designated by your instructor. If applicable, properly store all specialty reagents (advanced labs)
