Prevention Measures Frequent position changes
Frequent inspection of at risk areas Taking good care of skin Maintain good nutrition (good balanced diet, vitamins, hydration) Quitting smoking Exercising daily Specialized mattress, cushions etc.

Treatment Stage I & II usually heal within several weeks with conservative care Stage III & IV are more difficult to treat

Clean wound (wash with mild soap/water; saline rinse) Apply dressings Debridement (surgical, mechanical, enzymatic) Antibiotic treatment Pain management
