Program Goal: The overall goal of After-School Programs at Tennessee High School is to motivate all students to reach their optimal academic potential and social development by engaging in meaningful and fun educational and enrichment activities in collaboration with staff, parents, volunteers, and community partners.

Program Mission Statement: After-School Programs at Tennessee High School strive to provide a safe, educationally enriching, fun and rewarding experience for students during the hours after school. Students will have the opportunity to engage in activities that will benefit them emotionally, physically, and educationally. The programming includes snacks, homework help, specialized tutoring, S.T.E.M (Science Technology Engineering Math), music, arts and crafts, hobbies, sports, games, field trips and many other creative and cultural activities. The activities are conducted by staff trained to meet the needs of students and to provide positive adult role models.

After-School Programs:
Robotics is a program in which students work with professional engineers and teachers to build a robot to perform in a game-like competition. Dates and times vary throughout the year with the majority of the build season from January to March.

After-School Programs:
Foreign Language club meets weekly to discuss various competitions and enrichment opportunities for Latin and other languages.

After-School Programs:
Coming Next Year! Drama is a program in which students get to be involved in school plays and dramatic performances as well as learn about stage preparation, building of sets, etc. Dates and times vary throughout the year. Our brand new remodeled auditorium will be perfect for this new endeavor!!

After-School Programs:
Technology Student Association program is available to students to join at the beginning of each school year, however, they must be enrolled in or already have completed a STEM or IT course. They compete in regional and state S.T.E.M. (Science Technology Engineering and Math) competitions after school and on weekends.

After-School Programs:
Individualized Tutoring and AP Enrichment is provided by teachers in their classrooms after school. Students have healthy snacks provided and tutoring from their individual teachers. Days and times are announced to those classes when available.

ACT preparation camps ACT Preparation Camps are four-day programs provided prior to the Saturday ACT test dates. These classes are taught Monday through Thursday 6:00-8:00 PM. The summer ACT camp in June is Monday through Thursday 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM.

After-School Programs:
G.E.M. (Graduation-English-Math) Program: General after-school tutoring help for all courses and enrichment activities such as ACT Preparation, career explorations, home/auto care and maintenance, art, nutrition, STEM explorations, physical fitness, field trips, etc. This program meets in Room 2447, Monday through Thursday, 2:30 PM – 5:30 PM.

Changing a Tire Winter Driving Safety Tire pressure charts, VIN numbers, paint code numbers, and engine. Change the oil and check all fluid levels, lube doors and chassis. Minor tune ups, spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter etc. Buff oxidized head lights, and change bulbs. Wash, buff and wax car. Change wiper blades and get scratches out of windows. And much more! S.M.A.R.T. Goal Twenty percent of the regular participants in the 21st CCLC program will demonstrate growth in math by improving report card grades one-half letter grade by the 4th 9-week interim grading period of the school year for the purpose of successfully passing core subjects.

Proposed changes for Adding drama and photography for enrichment. Adding Credit Recovery and some New Credit courses for credit with 30-day requirement to allow credit. Visiting Vance Middle in May to encourage students to attend in August (hand out forms). Sending Parent Manual home with LEAPS middle school program participants. Beginning the program the first week of school instead of waiting a few weeks as we have in past in order to improve attendance. Adding more community service opportunities.
