4. Some Facts :
Madonna’s Father worked as a Design Engineer. As she had the same name as her mother, all her family members called her “Little Nonni”
Madonna received a dance scholarship from the university of Michigan. In 1978, she dropped out of college and relocated to New York City with only $ 35 in her pocket, where she worked as a waitress.
She then formed a rock band with her boyfriend Dan Gilroy and named it “Breakfast Club”
In 1980 or 1981 she left Breakfast Club and, with her former boyfriend Stephen Bray as drummer, formed the band Emmy. Their music impressed DJ and record producer Mark Kamins who arranged a meeting between Madonna and Sire Records founder Seymour Stein.
Madonna became a worldwide hit after the release of her second album “Like a Virgin”, which released in 1984.

The title track of the album topped the billboard hot 100 chart for six weeks consecutively. Madonna became more famous when she performed the song at the first MTV Video Music Awards (VMA).
Beginning in April 1985, Madonna embarked on her first concert tour in North America, The Virgin Tour, with the Beastie Boys as her opening act.
She has done as many as 13 world tours and a large number of super hit live performances.
She is featured in the book 100 Most Important Women of the 20th Century, published in 1998 by Ladies' Home Journal.
She has sold more than 300 million records worldwide and is recognized as the best selling female artist of all time by the Guinness world records.
