News from Mrs. Linehan’s Pre-K 4 Class W/E May 13, 2016
Message from the Teacher Please have your child wear appropriate shoes for the playground. Farmers & the Farmyard We have been learning about farmers and farm animals. We talked about the various jobs that the farmer carries out. The farmer uses a tractor on the farm, does the hay, plants crops and takes care of the farm animals. We also had some fun acting out the movements and sounds of the farm animals. We know only certain animals live on the farm. For example, a lion or a rhinoceros would not be on the farmyard. In addition, the students drew some lovely farmyard scenes. We will continue with the farmyard next week as well as ocean animals. Bubbles, Bubbles Everywhere This week’s Scholastic magazine was “Pop the Bubbles.” We noticed that we can find bubbles everywhere. We can find bubbles in the bath, in fish tanks, in our drinks, and even in the oceans. Please take a few minutes over the weekend to read the magazine with your child. This week we had an opportunity to go outside to blow some bubbles. Some of the students waved wands, others blew bubbles, and some just had fun popping bubbles. Religion – This week, we read the story “The Man from Africa.” We learned that Philip met a man from Africa who was riding in a chariot. The man wanted to learn more about the Bible & The Good News. He asked Philip to baptize him. Student of the Week Praisely DePasquale Reminders *Last Scholastic Book Order due May 20th. * Please remember to have your child wear shoes that are appropriate for the playground. Woodchips are getting into some of the children’s shoes. Sight Word Booklets A sight word booklet with sight words that can be found in the “Pop the Bubble” magazine were sent home during the week. Please use the booklet appropriately. Some of the students are ready and excited to learn some sight words. Some students are not ready yet, so the booklets can be used for lower case letter recognition or beginning sounds. You will also notice that the students cut out the booklets. Some students need to continue working on their cutting skills. Contact the Teacher Please feel free to contact me if you have any concerns. Twitter: @n_linehan1 New photos on Twitter!
