….your clients …and possibly your family, your neighbours or yourself!

3 What is Homeshare Oxford?
HOUSEHOLDERS In Oxford who have a spare room PROFESSIONALS Who need affordable accommodation in Oxford City Provide accommodation Share their home Provide up to 10 hours of help around the home each week Pay a contribution to living costs

4 Who can take part? Householders: Homesharers:
May be elderly and/or retired May want to help the younger generation May value some help around the home May be lonely or isolated OR many other things... Must live in Oxford City Must have permission to have a Homesharer Homesharers: May be professionals (e.g. Nurses, care workers, teachers, police officers) May be post-graduate students (e.g. PhD) May need affordable accommodation near to their place of work OR many other things... Must be willing to give some help around the home Must be able to afford the contribution to living costs

5 Help Around the Home 10 hours per week:
10 hours per week is the maximum, it could be less or vary week to week Tasks: e.g. Tidying, gardening, cleaning, cooking BUT not onerous and not 10 hours of ‘extra work’ and many things they would be doing anyway (cooking for 2 instead of 1, taking bins out) Companionship: e.g. Watching television, going to the theatre, having a chat and a cup of tea... We keep an eye: - An A4 weekly record allows us to evaluate the scheme and better support each match

6 Money Homeshare Oxford has a grant to develop a scheme that we hope will ultimately be sustainable and self-funding... Fees at Application: * Gas and Electricity Safety Certificates Householder Homesharer Application Fee £50 £25 DBS Fee - £5 Spend on Home Safety Certificates ~£200* Matching Fee £70

7 Monthly Contribution to Living Cost (CLC) from Homesharer
Money Ongoing Monthly Fees - paid by the Homesharer: No monthly fees for the Householder – they will not be out of pocket Room description Room Size (square meters) Monthly Contribution to Living Cost (CLC) from Homesharer 25%: Membership Fee to Homeshare Oxford 75%: Use and Occupation Charge paid to Householder TOTAL Single room 6.5 to 10.9 £67.50 £202.50 £270 Double room 11 to 35.9 £92.50 £277.50 £370

8 What Age UK Oxfordshire do?
Recruiting: We recruit Householders and Homesharers separately Checks: We check if people are suitable for the scheme (DBS, References, Finances, Home Safety) Getting to know our Householders and Sharers: We get to know people and spend time finding out what they want from Homeshare Matching: We carefully match Householders and Homesharers Supporting & Monitoring: - We provide support during matching and ongoing throughout a Homeshare
