5 All about me! This is my fifth year of teaching.
I am getting married this December. I have a four year old daughter in pre-school. I am one of the few people in the world who dislikes Starbucks. I love penguins, reading, singing, teaching, and playing with my daughter Tell your students more about yourself. -

7 School Reminders If your child is not in his/her seat by 8:15, they are tardy. The office will not interrupt classroom instruction. Please make sure your child has what he/she needs for the day. If you need to drop something off, you can leave it in the office and they will leave me a message. Emergency Packs- please make sure your child has one ASAP! Birthday Celebrations: You must notify myself AND the office in advance if you plan to bring something for your child. The item should arrive at 10:30 prior to recess Type in your classroom rules. -

Curriculum Language Arts: We are entering the second year of our Language Arts adoption. Social Studies: Main emphasis is on the Revolutionary War. Students will be learning about the 50 states, capitals, and location. Science: No Science CST this year. Will be taking a pilot test on the new science standards (NGSS- Next Generation Science Standards) Math: Think Central is a great resource to access the reteach book, math book, and homework book. Login is the same as their AR username and password but it is case sensitive! STUDENTS MUST HAVE THEIR MULTIPLICATION FACTS MASTERED!!! Insert info or delete slide. -

13 Behavior Insert time. -

14 Behavior Students will earn table points each day and at the end of the week the table with the highest points will earn a “Fun Friday” Students also work together as a class to earn “House Points”. If they earn 50 points, they get a class party (Ex. movie and popcorn, extra recess, root beer floats). Privilege Pass: If/When your student earns a Privilege Pass they mass use this pass as a bargaining tool within the classroom. If they can convince me to do something they can have it. Most students use this as a homework pass or to sit next to a friend for the day. For daily behavior within the classroom, I tend to handle things in house on my own, if something major were to occur you will hear fro me directly. Insert info or delete slide. -

18 PE Insert time.

19 PE Students will be doing P.E. every Wednesday and Friday with the district P.E. teacher from 1:30-2:20. Please send your child with a bottle of water. Make sure that he/she is dressed accordingly! Students may bring a change of shoes/clothes State Testing in P.E. done in May. Students will need to do the following: Mile, Trunk lift, Arm reach, Sit-ups, and Push-ups. Insert info or delete slide. -

20 Grading

21 Grading Grades are updated often but they are a work in progress.
Don’t worry if at the beginning of the trimester it seems like your child isn’t doing well. It’s because there aren’t a lot of grades in there. Extra credit is rarely offered, maybe once or twice a year. Fifth grade offers a different form of GFAs Students will be required to identify their mistake in written form and correct the problem numerically. me any time if something doesn’t look right. 23 Band Band will be on Tuesday and Thursdays
IMPORTANT: Students will miss class time to attend band. Students will be responsible for making up work. Time frame is between 9:30-10:30 a.m. during math instruction. If a student’s homework/class work is incomplete, he/she will not attend band. May not be allowed to be in band anymore if there are issues with grades/behavior. Insert info or delete slide. -

25 Homework Homework is given daily, and usually will be reading for 20 minutes, spelling/vocabulary, and math. It should take your child no more than an hour to finish homework, including the 20 minutes of reading. If homework in incomplete, Students may not call home for homework. Homework is an important extension of learning but it’s also about teaching the kids about responsibility. to 81010 Text messaging system for me to send out reminders, announcements, and to contact you about your child. You can also text me directly and it’ll come as a text message, not a group chat. This is not for students to contact me, just for parents. Fifth graders will have one major project towards end of the year: State project in March-April. The bulk will be done in class.
