What does monotheistic mean?
The belief that there is only one God. The religions we will learn about all believe in the same God.

CHRISTIANITY Christians worship in a church. Name for God: Yahweh
People who practice the religion of Christianity are called Christians. Christians worship in a church. Name for God: Yahweh

CHRISTIANITY The leader for Christians is Jesus.
The symbol for Christianity is a cross. Christians believe Jesus died on a cross to pay the sin debt for people.

JUDAISM People who practice Judaism are called Jews.
Jews worship in a synagogue. Name for God: Adonai Jewish people believe in the first part of the bible, but not the second, that pertains to Jesus. They believe the Messiah, or Savior, has not come yet.

JUDAISM The leader for Jews is Moses.
The symbol for Judaism is the Star of David.

ISLAM People who practice the religion of Islam are called Muslims.
Muslims worship in a mosque. Name of God: Allah

ISLAM The leader for Muslims is Muhammad. The symbol for Islam is the crescent moon and star. People believe this symbol comes from the fact that Islam began in desert countries. People traveled at night when it was cooler and used the moon and stars to guide them through the night, just as their religion guides them through life.
