2. AMS
The idea is to avoid disconnectors by disconnecting standard connectors.
Some of the AMS connectors shall be operated under Hot line working conditions (145kV) = „Hot pluggable“
Other connectors to be operated without voltage ( kV), (SubCon developed a wide range of these connector types but they are not in focus of todays presentation

3. AMS – Hot pluggable connector till now
The current designs of clamps are just combinations of existing clamps with some added elements to make the parts captive
Current practices of operating of such connectors are quite difficult in handling

4. All this does not take the reliability of these contacts into consideration !
„normal“ connectors are NOT designed to be dismatled often
The arc during operation might damage the contact surfaces
It is not possible to brush/clean the contact surfaces of live parts of clamp
The necessary high bolt torque settings hardly can be applied by isolated rods.

5. The technical requirement for AMS connectors
Electrical Contact to be designed properly taking the following into consideration to avoid Hot-spots: - multiple operation - low bolt forces (tightening with rods !) - difficulties in preparation
Ensure safe and easy handling with rods by: - bolts with low torque settings from bottom side - captive components - centering help
Controlled Arc behavior by defined arcing point

6. We would like to take this opportunity to share our idea, to discuss and to optimize the design.
The straight connector presented today shall be understand as a typical solution, the central AMS-element of course can be applied to multiple designs and connector arrangements according to customer demands
