Prepares students for many of the sought-after employability skills by corporations. These skills include written/verbal communications, teamwork, initiative, and analysis/investigating skills. Digital and technological savvy, understanding what resources are available for use and when. Critical thinking, problem solving and reasoning. Ability to analyze and evaluate differing or conflicting viewpoints. Ability to adapt communication toward a specific audience, task or purpose. In Summary, students will have the knowledge and abilities needed to succeed in life, whether attending college, military, or starting a career.

13 Consider Academic Status When Selecting Science Courses
Most 9th grade students will take Physical Science 1 and 2 Continue sequence by taking Biology 1 and 2 and then choose between Chemistry and Physics Some 9th grade students will take Biology 1 and 2 Science students who complete Integrated Math 1 with an A and 8th grade science with an A may take Biology instead of Physical Science Continue sequence by taking Chemistry and Physics

17 Elective Credits = CHOICES
Elective classes are your CHOICE. Consider your findings from SDMyLife. Choose your elective classes wisely. Consider your strengths and weakness when determining a manageable course load. Consider your personal interests.

18 World Language Students shall have at least a C average in English if they register for German 1 or Spanish 1.

19 9TH Grade Required Classes
All incoming 9th graders will be registered for the following required classes: English 9 World History, World Geography Math 1 or 2 *(Your middle school math teacher will provide us a recommended math course for each student.) (Math Lab) Science

20 Elective Credits (3 credits)
You will choose 3 total credits of elective classes. You will take Reading if you do not score on the SRI (9th grade reading level required for high school graduation). A list of elective classes available to 9th graders is provided in your registration handout (green).

You will need your username and password to complete the On-Line Registration (These were mailed to you) You will be able to submit your course requests on-line from home or school beginning January 30 – February 15, 2017 (Registration Window) January 30 – February 15, contact Stevens High School (7:30-4:00 PM) for assistance ( ask for Marcia) Communicate your selected courses with your parent/guardian for his/her approval
