2 Film Plot A writer and Wall Street trader, Nick, finds himself drawn to the past and lifestyle of his millionaire neighbor, Jay Gatsby. Soon enough, Nick will see through the cracks of Gatsby's nouveau riche existence, where obsession, madness, and tragedy await.

First published in April 1925. First year, the book sold only 20,000 copies. during World War 11 and became a part of American high school curricula and numerous stage and film adaptations in the following decades. In 1998, The Great Gatsby is widely considered to be a literary classic and a contender for the title “Great American Novel” 20th century's best American novel and second best English-language novel of the same time period.

Many of the female characters are seen enjoying the freedoms of the ‘flappers’ in the Jazz Age. Dependent women Daisy are more conventional in that they are married. “I’m glad it’s a girl. And I hope she’ll be a fool – that’s the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool.”

It eluded us then, but that’s no matter, tomorrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther And then one fine morning, So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.
