1. Social Studies Project
Assignment – Write a research paper on one of you selected topics. Paper will be 5 pages in length.
Assignment will be broken down into four parts:
1. Give me a list of your resources (Wikipedia is not an acceptable source)
2. Give me an outline of your essay
3. Give me a rough draft
4. Final, finished copy

2. 5 Page Breakdown is as follows:
Page 1 – Title Page
This is the title of your project – it should have the topic subject centered on the page, with teacher name, period and your name on the bottom (you can put either your name left or right aligned with teacher name and period in the other section)

This is where the information on your project subject will be located. It is 3 pages FRONT ONLY (not front and back per page).
Project will be done either hand written, or google docs (preferred). If typing, you MUST use 12 point font and times new roman.

What must be included?
Your project must include the following:
Why is your person or subject important?
This must be more than just when they were born, when they died, or when the event took place – it must include why was significant about the person or event.
Focus on ONE aspect of the person or subject!!
Example – If you were doing Abraham Lincoln – you could talk about how he preformed as commander in chief and was the first president to use communication to give orders to the military from the white house and explain how that helped the war effort during the Civil War.

Your Citation Page
This is where you are going to list your sources. Sources must be listed either MLA or APA. You can use a website to help you, some include son of citation machine and bibme
You Must have a minimum of 3 different resources cited in your project

6. Timeline
1 – Today Find 3 sources you might want to talk about
2 – HW – Pick one of your 3 sources as your final selection
3 – Begin research over break
4 – Hand in list of resources you have found and intend on using
5 – Hand in Outline of your essay
6 – Hand in rough draft of your essay
7 – Final Copy to be handed in – Date to be determined
