Practice: Sentences Races
Each small group will be given a piece of paper. I will say aloud a time sentence in English. Your group will translate that sentence into Spanish ONE WORD PER PERSON until the sentence is complete and you hold up your paper to be checked. If you are finished first AND your sentence is correct, you win a point for your team.

Speed Sentences It is 9:40 in the evening.
I like to play baseball at 2:50. After school, I need to do my homework at 3:45. It is 12:55 in the afternoon. I want to watch TV at 8:31.

Do Now: Day 3 Careful! This activity focuses on both Side 1 and Side 2 rules. Write the whole sentence. It is 11:05. It is 4:55. It is 6:15. It is 8:40. It is 1:30. It is 12:50. It is 10:20.

Practice: Matching Clocks
Individual Practice: Match each clock with the time written out in Spanish by writing BOTH the number and the digital time. Ex: 2. (8:25) Small Group Review: Review your answers in your small group, one person at a time and rotate. Partner Review: Each student grabs a mini-clock. Partner A says the time aloud to Partner B. Partner B makes the time on the mini-clock and shows it to Partner A to see if correct. Switch roles every other problem.

Time Stations We will be in 4 groups and move through 4 time stations today. Make sure you follow the GROUPS rules so that you can get the most out of each station. We will review the directions for each station then you can begin. If you forget the directions for the station, they will be posted at each station as well. Take out your Time Homework You will need it for one of the stations.
21
Time Station #1: Mini-Clocks
1. Every member in the groups will have a turn to be the “teacher”. Switch the “teacher” role after every question by passing the BIG CLOCK to the left. 2. The “teacher” calls out a time in Spanish for the rest of the students to make on their mini-clocks. 3. No one shows their answer until the “teacher” is ready. When he or she is ready, all students show their mini-clocks and compare to the “teacher’s” BIG CLOCK.
22
Time station #2: Flashcard Game
1. Take a small stack of flashcards from the flashcard box. Find a place where your group will not be distracted (or stay in the designated area). 2. Nominate one student to be the card holder. The other students in the group will compete against each other to answer the time question on the flashcard. 3. Students are shown a clock. The student wins a flashcard by giving the correct time before the competing student(s). Don’t forget to start your sentences with “Son las” or “Es la” to be correct. 4. Play until the small stack is gone and a winner can be determined for the round. 5. Switch roles by passing the entire small stack of cards to the left. Play again.
23
Time station #3: Matching
1. Divide the cards into two piles: Digital (green) and Words (purple). 2. Lay all cards our flat with the time facing down. 3. Match the digital times to the words by flipping one card over from each area. If it’s a match, take it away. If you’re wrong, turn both cards back over. 4. This can be played as a competition (2 vs. 2) or as individuals (1 person’s turn at a time). 5. The matching part can be made to be more difficult by mixing the two piles into one large pile. 6. The game ends when all matches are made. Count up to see which team wins!
24
Time station #4: Homework Review
1. Compare answers to Section 1 (Matching) as a group. 2. Pass your paper once to the left. Now, mark Section 2 only of the paper in front of you. The answer key is on the back of this page. 3. Pass the paper once more to the left. Mark Section 3 of the paper in front of you. The answer key is on the back of this page. 4. Hand the paper back to the original owner.
