4 Inviting Candidates to Take the Survey
There are two main ways to invite a candidate to take the Select survey Use the ‘proctored’ approach and launch the online survey for the candidate to take on-site Use the ‘unproctored’ approach and generate unique access passcodes so candidates can take the survey remotely There are two main ways to invite a candidate to take the survey. You can have them take the survey on site – this is referred to as our ‘proctored’ approach and is the ‘online survey’ option on the navigation pane You can have them take it remotely with a unique passcode where they can take it in the comfort of their own home; this is referred to as our ‘unproctored’ approach Many organizations use a combination of the approaches or may choose to use only one. If you are unsure which approach is most appropriate within your organization, please reach out to your client manager or

5 Unproctored Survey Administration
First, let’s discuss the unproctored survey approach.

6 Unproctored: Survey Administration
Click Unproctored Survey to administer the Survey in office via the web To set up a candidate for an unproctored assessment, click “unproctored survey” on the left navigation pane. When people take the unproctored version of the survey, they are required to have a unique passcode to access the survey. From here, you can create a unique Passcode for each candidate and send instructions directly from the site. Click on “Generate new Passcode(s)”; Passcodes are not only unique for each candidate but also a secure way to make sure the survey is only taken once by the candidate and that the link to the survey won’t be shared. This ensures confidentiality.

7 Unproctored: Generate Passcodes
Choose the number of passcodes you need, click your User ID from the drop down and choose the survey you would like to administer. On the next page, you will follow the steps to generate new passcodes. The passcodes will be used to tie a candidate to his/her assessment results. They are auto-generated by the Select system. Remember, you will only generate a passcode if the candidate is completing the unproctored version of the survey. The first step is to enter the number of passcodes you want to generate. You can create as few as one or as many as 100 at once. The second step is to assign the passcodes to yourself using your User ID. This step will be very helpful later when you want to retrieve reports for your candidates. The third step is to choose the assessment you want the candidate to complete. If you are responsible for administering more than one assessment, you must generate a new batch of passcodes for each assessment. If for any reason, this option is not available to you, please to activate this option for your account.

8 Unproctored: Assign Passcodes
The Survey Passcode screen will now include the new passcodes you have created. To send instructions to the candidate through Select system, click a passcode for the appropriate survey. The Survey Passcode screen will now include the new passcodes you have created.<pause> Now you need to assign a passcode to an individual. You did this by clicking on the passcode link. Passcodes that are not underlined have already been used. Notice the columns Generated For and Candidate Name. When you Generate a Passcode for an individual and fill in their name, it will appear under “Generated For”. When the candidate enters his/her demographic information before taking the survey, it will populate under “Candidate name” Make sure the names match and the survey was in fact, taken by the same person. It is a good way to track your candidates

9 Unproctored: Email Instructions
Under Assign Passcode, enter the Last Name and First Name of the candidate. If you are not sending the instructions through the Select System, just click Save without Sending . Enter the candidate’s last name, first name, and address. You can also edit the survey instructions. Be sure not to edit steps 1-5, otherwise you may delete important information the candidate needs to complete the assessment.

10 Unproctored: Monitor Status
The Survey Passcode list now includes the name of the candidate assigned to the passcode and indicates the instructions have been sent. Monitor the status of the candidate you just added and all other candidates on your candidate dashboard. (highlight as discussed) The Passcode is unique to each candidate and may be edited at any time before the survey is completed. Passcodes will expire after 30 days. The “ ed” column indicates whether or not the instructions has been sent to the candidate You can see who has started the survey under “Used” as well as under “Survey Status” The “Candidate Name” is the name the candidate entered when he/she began the survey. The “Survey Status” will indicate the survey is “Not Started”, “In Progress”, “Ready to Process”, or “Processed”.

11 Unproctored: Resuming an Unfinished Survey
Candidate will follow original instructions, connect to the URL, and enter the same Passcode and User ID. For a candidate following the unproctored approach – they will be able to resume the survey using the access information they received in their original . If they no longer have access to that , you can resend it from your candidate dashboard. The candidate will first enter in their passcode and user id. Then, because this is a passcode that has been used before, they will be prompted to enter their passcode and the last name they entered when initiating the survey the first time. Typically when people are having difficulty resuming a survey, it is because they are entering the wrong last name or included extra spaces when typing in their name for the first time. You can also look up the last name for the candidate on your dashboard.

12 Proctored Survey Administration
Let’s now take a look at the proctored survey approach.

13 Proctored: Guidelines

This page is going to provide you some general guidelines for proctored survey administration as well as provide you the login information and survey site URL. The system is pretty simple and has all the necessary steps to help you through the testing process!

14 Proctored: Survey Site
Provide a computer connected to the internet in a quiet location where the candidate will not be interrupted. To begin the proctored survey, you – as the hiring manager or recruiter – will need to access the survey site first. Choose the correct language for the candidate. Keep in mind – this drop down is to select the language for the survey site and does not necessarily mean the survey is available in all languages. to find out which surveys are available in which languages.

Seat the candidate at the computer in a location free of distractions. The candidate will need to type “Agree” to the informed consent and enter his/her name and demographic information to begin the survey. agree Next –briefly introduce the survey and survey process for the candidate and seat the candidate at the computer. Make sure it is a quiet environment free of distractions so as to not affect the way the survey is answered. The candidate must agree to the statement of informed consent before starting the survey. He or she must type the work ”Agree” and click to continue. This field is not case sensitive. Once the candidate is done, you will want to thank the candidate for their time and close and reopen the browser before starting the survey again for a different candidate. (SHOULDN’T WE SAY SOMETHING ABOUT DEMOGRAPHICS AND THE SURVEY ITSELF?) The candidate will be prompted to provide basic information and then be launched into the first page of survey questions.

17 Proctored: Access an Unfinished Survey
Test Administrator will connect to the Survey Site and proceed to the screen with the list of surveys available. Click on Resume Unfinished Survey. To resume a proctored survey, access the survey site as if you were initiating the survey for a new candidate. On the top right corner of the page where you select the survey you want the candidate to complete – you will see a link that says ‘Resume Unfinished Survey’.
