deacon The term “deacon” is transliterated from the Greek word DIAKONOS, which designates one who is a servant. “one who executes the commands of another, especially of a master; a sergeant, attendant, minister” (Thayer). In the New Testament, DIAKONOS is rendered “servant” 25 times and “deacon” 5 times.

Grave Not double-tongued Not given to much wine Not greedy for money Holding the mystery of the faith with a pure conscience Must first be tested or proven, and found to be blameless 1 Tim. 3:8-13

The deacon’s wife must be: Reverent Not a slanderer Temperate Faithful in all things 1 Tim. 3:8-13
