2 Classifying Plants Scientists use two characteristics to classify plants into small groups: a) How plants transport nutrients b) How plants reproduce

3 Water and Nutrient Transportation
Vascular Plants: They have tubelike structures that connect the leaves, roots, and stem.These structures transport water and nutrients, support the leaves and stem.

Nonvascular Plants: They pass water and nutrients from cell to cell. Mosses

6 Reproduction Flowers and Seeds (vascular): Flowering plants produce seeds

7 Reproduction Cones and Seeds (vascular): They make seeds and have cones instead of flowers.

8 Reproduction Vascular Plants with Spores: Some vascular plants form spores (brown dots or streaks).

9 Reproduction Nonvascular plants with Spores: Their spores form in cases at the tips of short stalks. Each spore case holds hundreds of spores.
