Praying for Refugees
2
Lord, we pray for refugees
Over 65 million in the world today Loving God, we pray today for the 65 million refugees in our world – each one is your child. Many of them are living in refugee camps, asylum centres or are even now along the road, making a bid for freedom. Walk with them by your Spirit. May they discover you in the people they meet, who serve them and provide for their needs. Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, Sudan, Somalia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Eritrea

Lord, we pray for children
Lord, we pray for the millions of children who are caught up in this situation. We pray especially for families who are separated, for children and teenagers who have no adults to look after them. Lord, please guard and protect them until they find a place of safety. Half of all refugees are children

Lord, we pray for internally displaced people
Syria, Colombia, Iraq, Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan, South Sudan, Pakistan, Nigeria, Somalia We pray for the millions displaced within their own countries. Be with those who have fled their homes and lost everything. Lord God, please come to the rescue of your struggling children today. Bring encouragement and hope to people who, through no choice of their own, are having to begin a new life in a new place. Help them not to give in to despair. We plead with you to bring peace and stability so that terror and fear may no longer rule their lives.

Lord, we pray for those who serve refugees and IDPs
Servant God, we thank you for all those you have prompted to serve, with humility and a lack of concern for themselves. We thank you so much for the churches that give support and shelter to refugees. Thank you for every church leader who has chosen to stay and serve their people. Lord, please strengthen and encourage them through these exhausting years and give them joy as they have the opportunity to share your love. Show us how we can love the refugees amongst us and show your compassion to them. Lord, help your church bring hope to those in need.

Lord, we pray for those who are fleeing persecution
North Korea, Iraq, Eritrea, Afghanistan, Syria, Pakistan, Somalia, Sudan, Iran, Libya, Nigeria Many of those who are displaced or refugees are our brothers and sisters in Christ who flee their homes because of persecution. Lord Jesus, we pray for those who have endured much suffering for your name and for those who regularly risk their lives to help them. Give emotional and physical strength to Open Doors partners and staff as they work in dangerous places supporting our persecuted family.

Lord, we pray for governments
Lord we pray for wisdom for our leaders in government, here and around the globe, as they face the challenge of working for peace and stability in our world. We pray especially for the countries that are most affected by the influx of refugees - Turkey, Pakistan, Lebanon, Iran, Ethiopia, Jordan, Kenya, Uganda, Chad, Sudan - and for Germany and the countries of Europe - that at every level people will choose to act justly and with compassion for their fellow human beings.

Lord, we pray for peace Finally, Lord, we pray for peace for the countries that are in turmoil and for good government in the places where people don’t feel safe. Please, Lord, bring your wandering people to homes of safety - in their hour of darkness, be their guide. Show them that when they call on your name, you will be there. Give them hope for the future and the strength to forgive. May they live to rejoice in the way you have led them. May their story become a song of your salvation.
