COS-DTK DRC is currently in the process of integrating the Device Toolkit with its new Central Office Services (COS) to create the COS – Device Toolkit interface.
16
COS-DTK BENEFITS Begins transition to the new COS to be introduced in the future Provides easy monitoring of your TSM and testing devices Opens directly from DRC INSIGHT Portal (eDIRECT) Simplifies the process of testing with more than one DRC testing program Such as WIDA ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 and Pennsylvania assessments No longer have to set up separate ORG Units for each testing program
17
COS-DTK 2017-2018 WHAT TO EXPECT: ORG Units are now Configurations
New Dashboard Monitoring and management of configurations and their devices ORG Units created in Device Toolkit will appear in COS – Device Toolkit as configurations. Each configuration migrated to new COS – DTK will contain the same testing devices and TSMs as the ORG Units created in DTK WHAT ACTION IS NEEDED: No action is needed, if the testing environment was organized prior to COS – Device Toolkit release. If new configurations are needed for the 2017/2018 testing season, Technology Coordinators will build the configuration in the COS – Device Toolkit.
18
COS-DTK 2017-2018 CHANGES TO TESTING ENVIRONMENT
Transition to COS – DTK will merge the two ORG Units into a single configuration, if District/School tested multiple testing programs (WIDA and PA assessments) AND Two ORG Units were set up during 2016/2017 test administration year (one for each testing program) Content Caching and Response Caching fully functional All TSMs remain configured for Response Caching, Content Caching, and/or Load Simulation
19
COS-DTK After all TSMs have been installed, use the COS – Device Toolkit to perform the following tasks: Set up configurations Associate TSMs with configurations Deploy configurations to testing devices Register the testing device with a configuration after you install and start INSIGHT on the testing device.
20
COS-DTK 2017-2018 To start the COS – Device Toolkit:
Sign on to DRC Portal (eDIRECT) Open All Applications Click Device Toolkit NOTE: Access to COS – Device Toolkit require Device Toolkit permission. If you do not have this permission, contact District Assessment Coordinator.
21
COS-DTK When the Select site page displays, select a testing program from the Testing Program drop‑down menu. Select a site (district or school) from the Site field by typing three or more letters of the site’s name. Note: You only see the schools and/or districts that you can access.
22

COS-DTK STEP 2 – Cont. Designate the use of Content Caching and Response Caching when using a TSM. Select TSM Content Caching Content Caching stores test content on the TSM. When students login to test, cached content is retrieved from the TSM instead of from DRC’s servers, thereby reducing demands on Internet bandwidth Select TSM Response Caching For fixed form assessments (i.e., PSSA and Keystone Testing) Response Caching buffers and stores test responses on the TSM if testing computers stop communicating with the DRC INSIGHT servers
37
COS-DTK 2017-2018 TSM Content Caching
Enter or paste the TSM Server Domain name (from the TSM). Format of domain name: Prefixed with and followed by a colon, the port number, and a forward slash (/). Example provided below: Select Content Cache Usage – Content Cache only TSM Response Caching Enter or past the TSM Server Domain name (from the TSM). Click Next when set up complete.
