The Dual Career Network Germany
Founded in June 2010 in Berlin 43 members Universities, dual career networks with universities and other research institutions Goals: Professionalization and institutionalization Quality standards Joint PR Multipliers and exchange of contacts Strengthening the German research area June 2010: 20 members almost every university‘s dual career service is a member of the network We all started with terminated contracts and the dual career services were regarded as projects. DCND – Goals (2) Strengthening the German research area
Cooperation with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the German Academic International Network (GAIN) at the annual GAIN conferences in the US (target group: potential returners) – offers: Dual career info stall for researchers since 2010 Workshops for dual career couples since 2010 Member of the expert group „The Researcher in Context“ of EURAXESS Top III- Project ( ) Observer in the EU project GENDER-NET ERA-NET ( )

DCND – Structure Functions Financing Conferences
Two speakers, elected for two years by the network Treasurer Task forces: Finances, public relations, strategy, quality management Financing start up funding by the Stifterverband für die deutsche Wissenschaft Since 2013: cost sharing by the member Conferences One conference every 9 month At changing members‘ institutions Duration: 1,5 days Participation rate: min. 70 % speakers: all the posts are on voluntary base, the colleagues do their DCND work during their regular working time the recent contribution is 50,- EUR per member organisation and year Stifterverband: innovation agency for the German science system © private
