A bit about me… Teach in a public magnet school in Louisville, KY
15th year in the classroom Favorite class to teach- AP Human Geography Other classes taught- World History , U.S. History, European History, Economics, Legal Issues, Research, Government Why service-learning? Teach working towards solutions, instead of just problems!

WHAT IS Service-learning
National Service-Learning Clearinghouse- “Service-learning is a method of teaching and learning that connects classroom lessons with meaningful service to the community.”

Why service-learning? Engage students Work collaboratively with others
Apply concepts, see connections Be able to explain, apply, and synthesize A more robust student understanding of the local and global processes at work

Our results this year 6,387 service hours $19,176 for charities
