2 Hallways Minimum of 36 inches wide
Hallways are often laid out to be 42 inches wide or wider to create an open feeling and to enhance accessibility from room to room

3 Stairs Stairs often can dedicate the layout of the entire structure because of their importance of a design process Good design practice would be to provide stairs with a width of inches for ease movement Common tread width is 10 to 10 ½ inches with a rise of about 7 ½

4 Stairs Winding stairs may be used if the minimum width of 10 inches is provided at the point not more than 12 inches from the side treads. The narrowest portion of winding stairway may not be less 6 inches wide at any point The spiral stair tread must provide a clear walking width of 26 inches measured from outer edge of the support column to the inner edge of the handrail

5 Stairs Stairs are required to have a minimum of 6’-8’’ of headroom
Handrails are required to be 1-1/2’’ from the wall may not extend into the required stair width by more than 4-1/2’’ A guardrails are required to be 36 inches
