3. Step 1
Discuss with the children what the animal kingdom would have looked like before deforestation. Then discuss the difference between threatened, endangered and extinct in relation to the animal kingdom.
Ask: If you could travel back in time which extinct animal would you
want to see or touch?
Which endangered animal would you most likely support? Why?
Which threatened animal deserves your support? Why?
Step 2
The children are going to create a database of animals from across the generations with the following criteria:

Children to work in pairs and reserch a variety of animals ask them to search for the following:
3 Extinct Animals
3 Endangered Animals
3 Threatened Animals
If time they should include 3 of their own choice.
With the information they should complete a table which will look similar to the one below.
