2 Use your Senses/Sensors
Dog and Box Video Use this video to demonstrate that programming with sensors allows the robot to more accurately navigate the field. This dog is using the sense of touch and her hearing, but refuses to drop the box to use her sight. Robots tend to meander around the field, much like this dog without the proper use of sensors.

8 Skills Training – Space Challenge
Registered FLL teams can borrow this set during the off season. Contact Check our regional website for more resources to go with the Space Challenge.

9 Analyze a Mission Step 1 – Analyze the rules
Memorize the model names and mission names. Classify and understand the points scoring.

10 Design a Solution Step 2 – Decide which missions and who works on them. Subgroups get everyone involved. Step 3 – Brainstorm optional paths. Step 4 – Determine the “best” path and state why.

11 Intro to Engineering Design
Step 5 – Subgroups ”walk” robot down the field, discussing details and recording pseudo code for each step using rulers and protractors. Step 6 – Pseudo code is placed into the program in comment form across the top of the workspace

12 Develop your Solution: Based on your Design
Step 7 – Students build the robot and program based on Pseudo code.

13 Testing and Revisions Step 8 – Students test their programs and builds recording major problems and designing solutions to these recording them in their journals and/or engineering design notebook. Step 9 – Team members make adjustments revising code and build.

14 Training Events For more information and practice on this method, check for scheduled training events for questions on how to prepare for tournaments.
