‘Partnership’ and ‘Accountability’ Welcome the Third Sector Forum here in [locality], these are your events, your opportunity to network and engage with other Third Sector organisations and partners, enable you to bring your experience, views and ideas on how the sector can contribute to our community planning partners and hopefully drive forward a positive outlook for this sector by highlighting the impact it has on the local and wider communities of South Lanarkshire. We would encourage you to get involved and contribute to what is your forum.

One of the areas of feedback from the last event was a request for more networking time, hopefully today we can accommodate this after the break with the table top discussions and your chance to discuss locality issues.

How was the first full year of the TSF?
16 events were delivered during 2016. The feedback has improved steadily throughout, highlighting that the shift to locality events is resulting in better networking and engagement. The average attendance over the year sits at 84, with 247 organisations attending over the year. Key points of feedback from 2016, The interactive element has again provided some useful analysis of the sector, as you may remember we asked that you discuss and then align your organisations work with the three priority areas as identified by the Health and Social Care partnership. The results over the four events highlight the following; Percentage of Organisations Mental Health and Wellbeing: 37% Intermediate Care: % Early Intervention, Prevention and Health Improvement: 43% Organisation who identified with; 1 area of work: % 2 areas of work: % 3 areas of work: % This type of information will start to inform locality planning groups, providing a clear view on the level and types of Third Sector organisation out there who are contributing to key areas of need, 2017 will hopefully build on the momentum of the Third Sector Forum by involving more partners to engage with these locality events, creating a defined platform for engagement with the wider Third Sector.

Input to Children’s Services, Getting it Right for South Lanarkshire’s Children and Families Children’s Services Plan Holiday Inn East Kilbride covering East Kilbride and Cambuslang/Rutherglen localities (Thursday 16th March) and; The Radstone Hotel, Larkhall covering Clydesdale and Hamilton localities (Thursday 23rd March). All events will run from 9.00 am until 1.00pm (finishing with lunch), a programme for the events will be available soon. If your interested in attending please contact Ann Sangster: You may be aware of the current Realigning Children's Services programme and the intention of ensuring that resource investment in South Lanarkshire best matches identified need. You may also be aware of the demands placed on children’s services partners by the Children and Young People’s Scotland Act 2014 i.e. to put in place robust Children’s Rights Reporting procedures and a refreshed Children’s Services Plan that best safeguards, supports and promotes the wellbeing of children and young people. One of the criteria for the above aim, is that stakeholders at all levels are involved in the process and consulted with. To this end the Children's Services strategy Group have agreed to prioritise events as part of the Children's Service Plan consultation and preparation process. one event in the Holiday Inn East Kilbride covering East Kilbride and Cambuslang/Rutherglen localities (Thursday 16th March) and * one event in the Radstone Hotel, Larkhall covering Clydesdale and Hamilton localities (Thursday 23rd March). All events will run from 9.00 am until 1.00pm (finishing with lunch), a programme for the events will be available soon. If you are interested in contributing we have agree with partners that representatives from across the Third Sector can attend one of these events, there will be a limit on numbers and you will need to be involved in services for children.

Who are we? - Sense Scotland
“Transforming lives through trust, relationships and communication.” We are a Scottish charity set up by parents of Deafblind children over 30 years ago. We support both children and adults with complex communication support needs across our services in Scotland.

TouchBase Lanarkshire – Day support
TouchBase Lanarkshire is a new, exciting and fully accessible base for people with communication support needs in Lanarkshire.

Early Years Early Years – Up to 9th Birthday With support from the Scottish Government, we have dedicated Early Years Advisers who can support families in those early years.

Family Advisory Service
Our family advisors cover the whole of Scotland and offer support from pre-birth. We can provide you and your family with benefits advice, representation and how to cope with the transitions of life.

One Giant Leap One Giant Leap is Sense Scotland's programme for young people with disabilities to help them make the leap from school to adult life. Starting in South Lanarkshire in Summer 2017 Bases at TouchBase Lanarkshire

Communication Connector Project
Communication Connector is based at TouchBase Lanarkshire (Hamilton) Is funded by the South Lanarkshire Third Sector Interface health and social care integration fund, and managed by Voluntary Action South Lanarkshire (VASLAN).

Project Outcomes and Targets
People with Communication Support Needs (CSNs) can exercise more choice and control over their care and support, enabling greater involvement in improving their health and wellbeing.

Definitions Inclusive communication means sharing information in a way that everybody can understand. People have communication support needs if they need support with understanding, expressing themselves or interacting with others.

Support This includes Increased access to materials, technology and trained staff Support with setting own personal outcomes Offering support to local health teams on how to best communicate with people who have communication support needs to participate in their own care

Support to other organisations
Local businesses, community groups, voluntary and public organisations receive support and training around inclusive communication. Leading to increased engagement of people who have communication support needs.

Sharing We will organise and facilitate practice sharing workshops across public and voluntary organisations Build links with other organisations to promote inclusive communication Create a web based library of resources

This Hub is aimed at anyone with an interest in improving their inclusive communication tools and processes. The Hub aims to promote inclusion and accessibility in its content and structure. Throughout this Hub you will find helpful resources in the Library, Case Studies and Blogs from employers and individuals, details of training and the latest news on Inclusive Communication.

How can we help? We are fully funded – so our support costs your organisation nothing. We can offer support until March 2018 in South Lanarkshire We can offer Inclusive Communication Sessions tailored to your organisation or business

The exercise on communicating let us realise how frustrating it can be for the person with different communication needs. Had not appreciated the extent of this. The simplicity of methods that could be used was also surprising – less complicated than anticipated. (local authority culture and leisure service)
