With the Compliments of the ASI Media Library
The Blessing of Trials With the Compliments of the ASI Media Library Please note that this study is not exhaustive. We invite you to do further research into this important topic at This presentation is a compilation of passages from the Bible and Spirit of Prophecy. The views articulated, over and above such passages, are those of the compiler/s. In a Nutshell: While trials are never easy to bear, the pen of inspiration assures us that trials are a vital component in the life of a Christian. This study reveals, in no uncertain terms, that trials are in fact the greatest blessings of our lives.

How Humans Often Respond to God’s Blessings
“The more I called Israel, the further they went from Me.” (Hosea 11:2) “When I fed them, they were satisfied; when they were satisfied, they were proud; then they forgot Me.” (Hosea 13:6) I called them – they went from Me I fed them – they forgot Me

Trials – God’s Redemptive Discipline
“God speaks to His people in blessings bestowed, and when they are not appreciated, He speaks to them in blessings removed, that they may be led to see their sins, and return to Him with all their hearts.” (PP470.2) “When your judgments come upon the earth, the people of the world learn righteousness.” (Isaiah 26:9,10)
5
Blessed Affliction - 1 “Before I was afflicted I went astray but now have I kept thy word. It was good for me to be afflicted so that I may learn your decrees.” (Psalm 119:67,71) “He suffers deep waters of affliction to go over our souls in order that we may know Him and Jesus Christ whom He has sent.” (COL174.3) “No character can be complete without trial and suffering.” (3MR427.1)
6
Blessed Affliction - 2 “When He permits trials and afflictions, it is "for our profit, that we might be partakers of His holiness." If received by faith, the trial that seems so bitter and hard to bear will prove a blessing. How many there are who would never have known Jesus had not sorrow led them to seek comfort from Him.” (WM20.1)

Trials Are Spiritual Medicine
“No cross, no crown. How can one be strong in the Lord without trials? To have strength we must have exercise. To have strong faith, we must be placed in circumstances where our faith will be exercised. The apostle Paul, just before his martyrdom, exhorted Timothy: "Be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God." It is through much tribulation that we are to enter the kingdom of God. Our Saviour was tried in every possible way, and yet He triumphed in God continually. It is our privilege to be strong in the strength of God under all circumstances and to glory in the cross of Christ.” (3T67.1)

Trials Are Cleansing Medicine
“Before we are delivered from Satan's power without, we must be delivered from his power within. The Lord permits trials . . . (1) in order that we may be cleansed from earthliness, from selfishness, from harsh, un-Christlike traits of character. He suffers the deep waters of affliction to go over our souls (2) in order that we may know Him and Jesus Christ whom He has sent, (3) in order that we might have deep heart longings to be cleansed from defilement, and (4) and may come forth from the trial purer, holier, happier.” (COL174.3)
9
“The purification of the people of God cannot be accomplished without their suffering.” (4T85.1)
10
Rejoicing in Affliction
“But we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; and patience experience; and experience hope.” (Romans 5:3,4) “Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” (James 1:2)
11
All Trials Are God’s Workmen
“All our suffering and sorrows, “all our temptations and trials, “all our sadness and griefs, “all our persecutions and privations; “in short, all things work together for our good. “All experiences and circumstances are God's workmen whereby good is brought to us.” (MH488.4)
12
Trials – Our Greatest Blessing?
“The obstacles, provocations, and hardships that we meet, may prove to us, not a curse, but the greatest blessings of our lives; for the grandest characters are built amid hardships and trials.” (HP46.6)
13
Trials Show How Much God Values Us
“The fact that we are called upon to endure trial shows that the Lord Jesus sees in us something precious which He desires to develop. “If He saw in us nothing whereby He might glorify His name, He would not spend time refining us.” (MH471.2)
14
Take a New Look at Your Trials
“When the light of the world passes by, privileges appear in all hardships, order in confusion, the success and wisdom of God in that which has seemed a failure.” (CH26.3) “Paul attained to the full moral stature of a man in Christ Jesus. By what a process was his soul developed! His life was a continual scene of hardship, conflict, and toil [2 Cor. 11:26, 27 quoted].” (7BC 903.2)

"I see not a step before me as I tread on another year;
But the past is in God's keeping, the future His mercy shall clear, And what looks dark in the distance may brighten as I draw near. "O restful, blissful ignorance; 'tis blessed not to know; It stills me in those mighty arms, which will not let me go, And hushes my sad soul to rest on the bosom which loves me so. "So I go on, not knowing, I would not if I might. I would rather walk in the dark with God, than go alone in the light. I would rather walk with Him by faith, than walk alone by sight. "My heart shrinks back from trial which the future may disclose, Yet I never have a sorrow but what the dear Lord chose. So I send the coming teardrops back with the whispered word, 'He knows,'“ (HP121.2)
