2. Donald Trump will become the 45th president of the United States, a historic victory and a message that people are frustrated with Washington's political establishment. President-elect Trump needed an almost perfect run through the swing states on Tuesday-- and he got it, winning Ohio, North Carolina and Florida. He was even able to win some other key states thought to be favoring Clinton (such as Pennsylvania). His campaign approach repeatedly shattered the conventions of politics to pull off a stunning upset. Clinton conceded to Trump in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Speaking at a victory party in New York, Trump was gracious toward Clinton and called for unity. "We owe Secretary Clinton a very major debt of gratitude to her for her service to our country. I say it is time for us to come together as one united people.” He added: "I pledge to every citizen of our land that I will be president for all Americans.” Trump won with 289 electoral votes compared to 218 for Clinton (with a couple of states still pending). As it stands now, Clinton actually has a greater percentage of the popular vote, 47.6% to 47.5% (although that number is in flux). Trump, 70, will be the oldest president ever sworn in for a first term.

Both the House of Representatives and the Senate have been voted in with a Republican majority, meaning the Republican Party now controls Congress as well as the presidency.

PA voted in favor of Donald Trump: 48.8% to 47.7%
Pat Toomey defeated Katie McGinty: 48.9% to 47.2%
Brian Fitzpatrick defeated Steve Santarsiero: 54% to 46%
California, Massachusetts, Maine and Nevada voters approved recreational legalization of marijuana. Arizona voters appeared to have rejected recreational legalization. On the medical side, Florida, Arkansas, and North Dakota all voted in favor of medical cannabis, and Montana appeared likely to also approve it.
