2. Problem Solution Upcycle!!
Mountains of discarded clothing end up in landfills each and every year. Clothing that can take hundreds of years to decompose. These clothing will take up our precious land.
When clothing isn’t recycled, it means more has to be produced and will result in pollution. As the landfills pile up it rots and produces an explosive gas called methane and liquid filled with poisons. These poisons sink into our water sources, polluting them. This becomes a threat to fish, bird life, and plants that grow near the rivers.
If we upcycle, we conserve raw materials and natural resources. That means less has to be extracted, refined, transported and processed which lightens the load on Earth. You also conserve the energy that’s needed in the manufacturing process. Less energy results in smaller carbon footprints and fewer greenhouse gasses and emissions. Upcycling will also lower the amount of dyes, heavy metals, and chemicals that go into our ground water and affect wildlife.
