Organizational meeting October 9, 1965
First formal meeting May 14, 1966
Mission: To create an “Engineering alumni group that would ‘be an advisory and a working group’ to assist the dean, the School of Engineering and the university”

3. Responsibilities and Expectations
Attend council meetings during your tenure as an active member (five years)
Participate in the council’s committees, e.g. academic, development, public relations, research
Be ambassadors for the College of Engineering within our communities, our legislative bodies, and our peers and profession

4. Responsibilities and Expectations
Act as a college liaison within your corporate sphere of influence, whether in private industry or government agencies
Assist and introduce the dean and his officers to those within your sphere of influence
Be an advocate for Auburn Engineering in its academic offerings, research programs, outreach activities and development efforts
Be an advocate for the university as a whole

5. Responsibilities and Expectations
Contribute to the College of Engineering, and assist in identifying donors who can help advance our programs, and support our students and faculty
Understand the difference between dues that support the Alumni Council and contributions that support the College through the Auburn Foundation

6. Dues and Philanthropy Dues Philanthropy
$500/year for the first five years (active term)
Life membership: $7,000 (one time payment or 5 x $1,400 installments)

Engineering Eagles Society: $1,000 annually
Keystone Society: $50,000 (5x$10,000 installments)

7. Meetings
Spring meeting is traditionally held on A-Day weekend and includes a focus on graduate studies; College of Engineering awards ceremony at noon, informal dinner on Friday evening
Fall meeting is traditionally held on Homecoming weekend and includes a focus on undergraduate studies; Council awards ceremony and formal banquet held in the evening
Committees meet Thursday afternoon and Friday morning on meeting dates

Composed of three subcommittees focused on improving the student experience
Career Pathways – Promote practical application/experience through undergraduate research, co-op, and student projects
Student Co-Curricular and Extra Curricular Experience – Partner with faculty and student organizations to broaden opportunities for personal and professional development
Academic Achievement and Perseverance – Assist in retention, academic success, and graduation rates through alumni interaction, particularly at the freshmen and sophomore levels

Assists dean of engineering and senior director of development and staff in the overall engagement of development efforts

Research
Assists the dean of engineering and associate dean for research in identifying points of engagement for the college’s research efforts
Support Auburn Engineering’s efforts to reach top 25 ranking for research institutions
Provide insight on alignment of research programs in state, regional and national arenas
Leverage your contacts to find new research opportunities for the college

12. Committees Public Relations
Assists dean of engineering in overall public relations efforts related to alumni engagement, role of the Alumni Engineering Council in public affairs, cooperation with trade and professional groups
