Introduce Summit Staff Home/School Communication Annual Review Process and Parent/Teacher Conferences Allergies PTO 6:45 – 7:00 pm Curriculum – Michelle Mailhot, Assistant Principal 2017 Graduate Update Rotations Transition Coordinator – Shawn Scibetta Work Based Learning/Vocational Program 7:00 – 8:00 pm Parents will follow their child’s daily schedule and visit rotating classrooms.

4 Home/School Communication
At Summit we encourage and welcome communication from parents. s are a great way to keep in touch with us! Last year a committee was formed, with parents, teachers and administrative staff to look at ways to look more specifically at home/school communication: Surveyed parents on what they wanted to address in home/school communication Developed age appropriate daily templates Discussed other forms of communication as we move forward, i.e.: apps, student s, student notes, etc.

5 Annual Review Process CPSE/CSE Meetings
Letter sent home last week: 2 scheduled meetings per year, with parents CPSE/CSE Meeting, with District and Summit Staff. The purpose of this meeting is to develop and approve a new Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Summit staff strongly encourages parents to attend this meeting as it a mandated meeting. For transitioning students (Preschool to District or Creekside to Adult Services) an additional meeting/s may be required prior to the CPSE/CSE meeting. Parent/Teacher Conference, with Summit Staff - informal meeting with your child’s teacher to discuss progress within the classroom and to share information from a home/school perspective.

6 Annual Review Process CPSE/CSE Meetings
If your child’s CPSE/CSE Meeting is taking place in the Fall, 2017…..the Parent/Teacher Conference will be held in the Spring, 2018 If your child’s CPSE/CSE Meeting is taking place in the Spring, 2018….the Parent/Teacher Conference will be held in the Fall, 2017 Of course…..you may request additional meetings with your child’s teacher, as needed throughout the year.

7 Allergies Summit is an ‘Allergy Sensitive’ School What does this mean?
‘Allergy Sensitive’ signs throughout the school Training for ALL staff on allergy safety and Epi-pen administration Individual signs both inside and outside the classrooms for students with life-threatening allergies Allergy Alert Labels on case books and lockers

8 Allergies Allergy Alert Back-Packs for Rotation Students
RED table in the cafeteria Peanut Butter Replacement (Sun Butter) – no peanut butter is used within Summit Center or Creekside locations – ADL or Cafeteria Lesson plans for student to be advocates for their own allergies Allergy Alerts on our central attendance system, per individual student

9 Allergy Field Trip Backpacks Contents
Emergency ‘Blue’ Cards (with a RED card for student with known life threatening allergies) Copy of ‘Anaphylaxis Emergency Plan’ for student /s with allergies Bio bags (RED) for lunches of children who have severe allergies RED plastic table cloth Hand sanitizer Epi – Pen Epi-Pen Training Handout Gloves These are to be carried when you are on a field trip and checked out through the nurses office.

Co- Taught by Jordan Hobba, Darlene Firkins/Kaitlyn Kiszewski, and deLacy Kennedy Teaching skills such as to promote independence with self-care hygiene, dressing, domestic skills, etc. Leisure Skills Rooms 715/716/725 Co-Taught by deLacy Kennedy, Amy Oliver, and Nick Rockwell Teaching skills such as engaging in activities to occupy student leisure time and skills to engage in community integration (group games, looking at magazines, using the iPad, sharing, taking turns, etc.)

Taught by Phil Munson Teaching pre-vocational skills such as assembly, productivity, filling orders, making deliveries, etc. Job Readiness/Academic Skills Room 726 Taught by Regina Lauer/Kaitlin Scott – eff. 10/2 Teaching job readiness and academic skills such as reading job descriptions, writing resumes, the concept of money, the concept of time, working with co-workers and supervisors, etc.

12 Transition Meetings 2017 Graduate Update
Please sign up for a transition meeting when you go to your son/daughters homeroom. The transition meetings will be to discuss the timeline of creating and achieving goals, post-graduation. These meetings will solely be for the purpose of discussing transition and the timeline of required steps, not transition in relation to the IEP
