Important Information
The NEW ASQ: SE – 2 will be distributed by the University of Delaware to all Delaware Stars Programs using the ASQ Screening. All Delaware Stars programs must transition to the ASQ:SE:2 immediately. The ASQ:SE is no longer available online.

What is the ASQ : SE - 2 This screening is:
A parent-completed questionnaire that accurately identifies young children at risk for social or emotional difficulties A tool that asks questions about 7 key behavioral areas: self-regulation, compliance, adaptive functioning, autonomy, affect, social- communication, and interaction with people

What’s New with ASQ:SE-2?
Updated questionnaire design Consistent with ASQ-3 Expanded age range: 1–72 months New 2 month Questionnaire Screen through Kindergarten New data and cutoffs from larger normative sample – sample size included 14,000 diverse children

What’s New With the ASQ : SE-2?
Monitoring zone: Clearly identifies children who are close to the cutoff and should be monitored and re- screened. New behavior and communication items were designed to elicit parent concerns that may point to autism and early communication issues.

Review Slide and State:
Each ASQ:SE-2 interval has unique summary sheets; the summary sheet, along with the optional “Item response sheet” provides a summary of the entire ASQ:SE-2, as well as follow-up actions that are needed. Assess ing basic needs and providing support (i.e., accessing food, housing) Emotional support Developmental guidance Parent/Child relationship support Advocacy Parenting Strategies Positive Behavior Supports Parent Child Interactional Therapy (Requires a trained mental health professional)
